Finally saying hello!

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to pop in to say hi! I’ve been an unregistered lurker for a while now. Decided to get off my behind and see what was behind door #3

I’ll be 55 in a couple of days and I’ve been on Keto since October 3, 2016. So like 5 months. I started with CICO in August. I was about 55lbs overweight. Then moved to the keto WOE. I am not T2 diabetic or IR that I know of. I started keto due to some severe OCD issues and had read some positive information on mental clarity with this WOE. They were not kidding!!

I feel fantastic! and have about 10lbs to goal weight. Secretly, I am terrified of that. I have made the decision that goal or not I will be staying keto strictly because of how it makes me feel. I am so AWAKE!

So I’ll keep it short or I’ll ramble on forever. Nice to meet you all!

Welcome. And go ahead and ramble if you want. We don’t GAF. We’ll read it. Lol.

Welcome! Yep, rambling is definitely welcome. Glad to have you. I love hearing the different reasons that people start Keto. And I’m happy to hear it’s helping you with yours. You said it’s given you mental clarirty, but I’m curious… have you seen a lessening of your ocd symtoms?

Glad you spoke up and had a ramble. Goo dot hear you speak up. Sounds like you are doing great. Go you. x

PS Yes, getting to target can be weird and unsettling. Many (me included) have a tendency to just cut loose and go nuts. Not a good idea! Maintenance takes a lot of getting used to and is harder in many ways than losing weight. Sounds like you are prepared for this though. You can do it.

Welcome! I think the ones who are successful with keto are the ones who look at it as a lifestyle, not a diet, so I’d say you’re on the right track! I can’t imagine how amazing it just feel to be at goal weight (I’ve lost 132 so far but have another 135ish to go) but I can’t wait to get to that challenge. Lol

Awake is a great way to describe it. Isn’t this an amazing “side benefit” to keto? My wife and I started nearly four years ago and we felt this very quickly — it was like a mental light had come on and brightened the world a bit. I wish everyone could feel this way.

Happy for you!

Welcome from a fellow newbie and great story! Congrats on your non-scale and scale success!

I have felt some improvement, definitely. My husband says he sees it daily. It never affected my life to the point of breaking it (thankfully) but it can be … draining. I still check my oven several times through out the day when I’m home and my refrigerator can look like a scene from the movie Sleeping with the Enemy. BUT, I don’t count things in 3’s any more and stuff like that. I don’t think I’ll ever be “cured” of it but these small things have helped immensely.

Amazing. I love hearing stories like this. I don’t know what the correlation is between keto and OCD is, besides the mental clarity. I wonder if the control you have over your nutrition helps.

Welcome!! Love your story, and thanks for sharing.

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome!

Yes-That is how I explain it too!! I used to be hungry & sleepy all the time-especially when driving! ( yikes!)

I’ve been on this journey for almost 2 years & dropped 40 lbs., am currently stalled, but off all meds & have good numbers. And no longer worry about sleepiness when driving. LOVE IT!
