Finally reached my FIRST goal! Down 20lbs!

(Sam) #1

20lbs probably doesn’t sound like a lot, but for someone who has had PCOS for 5 years and rapidly gained 30lbs over the summer in 2017, its AMAZING!

Like I said, I gained 30 lbs over a 3 month period last year for absolutely no reason - no diet changes, I wasn’t sick. It was ridiculous. Once I hit 230lbs I knew I had to make a change. Sitting around and complaining about it wasn’t going to help.

I set 20lbs as my first goal because honestly, I didn’t think I’d get there. It took almost 2 months to do it, but I got there! Next stop is 200lbs!

@sampear congrats on reaching your first goal!

Besides the weight loss in 2 months, have you noticed any other changes in regards to your PCOS since going keto?

(Sam) #11

I haven’t had my blood glucose or insulin checked yet, and I’m on the BC shot to treat both the PCOS and Endometriosis so I can’t say I’ve noticed anything different aside from the fact that my sugar and glucose levels don’t feel grossly high anymore! I would have high/low sugar level crashes a few times a day but I can safely say I haven’t felt that since I started keto.

Awesome. 20lbs feels like a significant weight loss with PCOS. I have been celebrating 2.5kg losses because it can be so slow with PCOS. I am experiencing other benefits and giving my body time but sometimes I just wish the scale would drop (which it does sometimes). Well done!

Are you going to get yourself a non food reward? Magazine, massage, clothing piece??

(Sam) #13

I actually did think about going pants shopping, I’ve dropped around 3-4 inches so clothes shopping may not be so frustrating anymore :joy:

(Zoe ) #14

Pants shopping sounds like a plan! Especially if it is not frustrating, if it turns out to be just leave it. You could aim for an elastic waist so that they should still hold up as you drop more. Or if there are shops that you have been able to buy from before but they have smaller sizes head to them.

The other plus is that if you find a pair that you like and find flattering you will see the changes more clearly. I find that I feel more confident and sassy when I can see the difference.

Of course if you have good op shops in you area and time to look, you could find a pair there. It should save you some money especially if you expect you will be gaining an even more refined waist.
