Finally had to say it

Maybe too late with this friend but I have LOVED embracing my deranged metabolism and use “metabolic syndrome” and “metabolic disorder” and “hyperinsulinemia” as explanations for anyone who needs one. Shuts 'em right up! No one has ever asked me another question after that. It will also explain my(hopeful) weight loss which will knock all the judges off their pedestals “knowing” I just overate and under-exercised my way to fat! Of course I’m happy to share with anyone who is positive and genuinely interested. This is just for the rude set.

On a positive note, I have found the restaurant industry to be catching up pretty nicely. I usually have no problem at all eating keto when out. I’ve really warmed up to a la carte menus these days too. So nice to not have to explain and just order the ribeye and brussel sprouts!

If only we could get the restaurant industry to switch away from cheap, heat-processed industrial seed oils and start embracing truly healthy fats instead of high omega-6 PUFAs. That would make enjoying a dinner out a much healthier endeavor.
I recently asked a cook at a buffet to cook my eggs in butter rather than bottle of oil they were using and after melting the butter, she squirted at least a tablespoon of her oil in on top of it. I had to stop her, ask her to throw it out and try again, without using the soybean/canola. I almost had to resort to calling it an allergy to get what I wanted.
Maybe I should just always describe my diet as allergic to sugars, grains, starches and seed oils. They seem to take the allergy comments quite serious in the restaurant industry lately.
