Feeling horrible, Again?

In a couple days is my 2 month keto anniversary and things have been going pretty well. After the first couple weeks I felt normal again but just this past week it seems like Im experiencing the same weakness, faintness, and low energy as if I was going through the keto flu.

I thought I was getting closer to being fat adapted because the last couple of weeks Ive started to really smell bad…which I knew was a normal side effect of keto but I hadnt experienced it until 1.5 months in. So even though I wasnt losing weight, I took that as an (annoying) sign that I was on the right track. But after this past week Im so confused.

My digestion suddenly started to scream at me, my heart burn is acting up, and I just feel SOOO tired. Ive been drinking ketoaid every day, I drink cups of bouillon, I take my multi vitamin everyday, I eat lots of fats according to the recommended macros…so whats wrong? Is this really just a salt issue?

Its really disheartening and Im starting to feel depressed because I cant go out and enjoy the beautiful weather because I feel so awful.

Last weekend my husband and I went to go see Infinity War and I wanted to have a nice time so I splurged and ate lots of popcorn (popcorn is my favorite food so I miss it while on Keto). I figured this was a special event and had a lot of popcorn! Could that have kicked me out of ketosis so now Im going through the keto flu again?

I don’t think one night of popcorn would cause keto flu, but it can make you feel terrible the next day or two.

Have you started eating a new food that you haven’t eaten before? Maybe you’re reacting to a food?

No I dont think so. Maybe it will pass? Its jsut been constant mild abdominal pain, stomach pain, and heartburn. Also not sleeping as well.

It could be a bug, maybe not related to keto? Hope you feel better soon.

I have noticed recently, three years in, that some mornings my fatty coffee is triggering acid reflux and am taking this to mean my body doesn’t want as much fat as I have been giving it. I don’t know if this could be a similar thing to you, just thought it worth a mention.

I love movie theater popcorn as well and miss it, too. One of the reasons I have not chosen to splurge on it has been the fact that corn is one of the worst things any human being can ever consume, ever.
When my daughter was diagnosed with leaky gut syndrome, we discovered that corn, especially corn grown in the United States is literally toxic to the gut. It interferes with a healthy microbiome and with the process of digestion. If you, unknowingly, have a leaky gut, or did have before starting keto, you may have caused significant damage.
Again, I don’t know, I’m only speculating.
Do you use apple cider vinegar in your regimen? This is vital for digestive health.

I would also advise against cutting back on fat. If anything, you may need to add more.

I would not hesitate to say that your very bad week might be connected to this one thing.
Maybe do some research on how to build and maintain a healthy microbiome

Is the stomach pain a burning? How much potassium have you been getting? Do you use MCT? What does your food log look like? How much sodium are you getting? Also, you can get keto flu at any time that you are low carb.
