Feeling cold

#1

Anyone else started feeling the cold much more since ketoing?
I have never felt the cold in my life…not even the slightest. Now, I’m bloody freezing sometimes, and cold most of the time!

It’s not a nice side effect!

(Solomom A) #2

Yeah, since I lost the weight (fat).

(Running from stupidity) #3

Only when a couple of days into a fast. OTOH, I’m still well insulated…

#4

Especially after eating!

(Allie) #5

Only when fasting, like now. But, I’ve always felt the cold more than most.

#6

Oh yes, anything under 74 is cold now🤔

#7

I have lost a lot of weight on previous diets, but has never affected me like this.
It’s no big deal really, just wandered if anyone else noticed it!

#8

I seem to remember it was the same for me on the Atkins diet.

I’m 12 hours into my 5 day fast and the air con at work has been turned up by some n00b and my teeth are chattering lol.

If you are feeling cold your metabolism is slowing down trying to conserve energy. Might try upping your food consumption a bit.

#11

It varies but in general yes. If I skip a meal or fast then yes

Go and explain your protocol to them and explain that you need it changed back.

What if I get my information confused with my broken-record-speeches and tell them if they don’t raise the temp around here I might stall and PISS myself.

(Running from stupidity) #14

Hmmm, my plan may not have been as devious and obscure as I imagined…

#15

:joy:

#16

This makes sense.
I might try that, thanks.

For a short time until she got a different job, this was my primary care physician:

I believe she thought that getting cold meant you were burning a certain type of fat. I’m sure my losing 50+ pounds and gaining muscle has also caused some change in body heat. I get hot after exercise, to the point I continue to sweat, then slowly get cold over the day at work. I think that’s in part due to the way the AC works at work, they turn it up at night and down during the day.

I’ve unfortunately been getting so cold that fasting 22 hours is difficult, so I’ve been eating whenever I’m hungry. I’ll continue to do that until I can fast again.

I can put up with it if it means I’m losing weight!!!

For me it comes a lot to if I’m drinking a lot of water. The more I drink, the colder I am. I also have Raynaud’s, so I’m sitting here in my office with fingerless gloves and a blanket lol. I hate being cold! But it’s become a way of life for me and I live in the wrong state. The cold is coming this weekend!!!

It’s a typical sign of slowed metabolism, whether temporary or chronic. Metabolism creates heat, as it were.
