Fat people at work

(Heather Meyer) #122

Ugh! i feel bad for me…I was force fed those for breakfast daily growing up :(

Some people have totally given up on weight loss since the way we’re told to doesn’t work. Others think since those thing don’t have a ton of fat they’re automatically healthy. Both me and the wife at one point said we’d rather be overweight and eat food we like. Luckily now it’s 3yrs of keto later. But prior going back to LCHF eating I pretty much gave up.

I am at a job where I am not allowed to eat. I have to sneak snacks under my desk to survive dude. Iam slim to begin with and I have lost a few pounds and I can’t quit because I have no family to turn to. It’s a 10 hour long day from hell at a Cooperate office.

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #125

Do you not get a lunch break? Or other breaks?
Why are you not allowed to eat?

('Jackie P') #126

Do these ladies eat at work? Or do they just tell you what they had? The good thing about keto is that you rarely feel hungry.
I used to work 12 1/2 hour nights in a busy hospital on a take a break if and when you can basis. Pre keto I would always be raiding the biscuit tins and chocolates, but post keto, I just kept going!
Now I work days with a 30 min lunch break. Just enough time to eat a chaffwich😊. Pure luxury!

(Edith) #127

Is that legal?

(Jane) #128

So you are not allowed to eat but you watch other women eat donuts for breakfast and salad for lunch? This makes no sense.

And if you are having to sneak snacks to get through your work day you still aren’t doing keto right. Doesn’t matter that you are thin. You aren’t eating enough at your meals or the right foods to sustain you in between.

(Jane) #129

No, of course not. She may not be allowed to eat at her desk but she has to be given breaks for meals. A bit of an exaggeration for effect I suspect.

(Scott) #130

My daughter is a nurse and while no rule say you can’t eat, you can’t exactly look up while a patient is coding and say “lunch time”. She is in neurological ICU and sometimes mealtime just doesn’t happen. I would say that it would be easier if she were keto.

(Jane) #131

True. Some jobs have to be more flexible for meal times. But no company can not allow you to eat for 10 hours - that is ridiculous.

Why do fat women eat muffins and donuts for breakfast and salad for lunch? Then blame their weight problems on age or genetics?

my thoughts are simple.

I was one of them. I could ‘calorie count’ easily and have a muffin and donut, salad for lunch, reasonable calorie dinner and even have some ice cream for dessert on my ‘calorie restricted diet’ cause I could fit all that crap into my calorie count…….hey I was dieting ya know  If I could fit all crap food into my numbers for the day they were fair game. Omg the old kcal restrictions diets are the worst!

and if older you do blame age. every article says most likely you are going to struggle harder losing lbs. when older. not true tho

and then genetics…coming out with ‘take this test for DNA eating plan’ and more…now we can throw blame there also.

ugh just insanity and stupidity on the current food in this world…a monster joke.

('Jackie P') #133

Usually by the time we are older, so many of us have tried every diet in the book and reduced our metabolic rates accordingly!

(Susan) #134

This is totalllllly me, and why I plateau constantly. I lose 1 pound, then stay at that weight for a month, then another pound… that is why I am doing this new protocol starting tomorrow, to hopefully get the scales moving again.

This is from IDM and @Ilana_Rose was awesome posting about it and @monsterjuice and I are beginning this tomorrow =).

('Jackie P') #135

Wow @Momof5 I send you every good wish for that ! You are brilliant at fasting I know

(Susan) #136

Thank you Jackie =).

(Susan) #137

I sit at a front desk for 10 hours. The only way to eat is to sneak food under my desk. I don’t plan on staying forever. By next year I will get out to a different position because I hate this situation.

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #138

That can’t be legal. Where do you work? Can you report them?

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #139

I understand her situation. My mother was a secretary and if you need your job to survive you won’t rock the boat, you acclimate and work around it. I worked at a job for years where it was frowned upon to sit down and eat, you did it while you worked and quickly. Sometimes I took my food in the bathroom and sat on the toilet to eat. As a nurse I sometimes got 15 minutes off the floor during a 12 hour shift. I filled in at an Amazon warehouse one year for extra Christmas money and you had to ask to use the bathroom (the answer was no because the time whistle would give you 5 minutes every few hours and the lines to the bathroom were a mile long). It’s not right but it’s happening all the time.

So, considering all that if someone opened a box of donuts in front of my face and offered me one, I’d leap at the opportunity to eat it.

(Susan) #140

It’s not legal, but they don’t care. I had a supervisor even follow me to the bathroom. That really creeped me out. I am in front a camera all day long. So, the bathroom is the one place I don’t have to be stared at

(Rebecca ) #141

Maybe I missed something…but if you are at your desk for 10 hours, not “permitted” to eat…how do you know all of the other women are eating muffins, donuts and then salad for lunch?
