Fat adapted

(Rich) #1

I just finished my 6th week of keto…I have been strict the whole time…how do I know when I am fat adapted? There have been times a few weeks ago where I didn’t feel hungry at all and could of went long times without even thinking of eating…but now I seem to be more hungry during meals and my energy levels go up and down slightly

Really, it’s about how you feel. If you’ve been strict and at 6 weeks, you’re either fat adapted or getting close. Is there a reason you’re concerned about it?

I am waiting for the burst of constant energy and Not have the hunger I typically do…I am stuck at my current weight and want to scale to move lol…I am loosing some inches tho…I just get worried I either don’t eat enough or I eat to much

If you are hungry a lot, chances are you’re not eating enough fat. The goal is fat to satiety. If you’re hungry, you’re not sated. Change your focus. Just focus on net carbs under 20g and adding more fat in. Watch electrolytes and put the scale away. Adding fat is as easy as adding more butter to everything. Keep calm and keto on.

I have been eating a lot of fat…I usually end up over what I am suppose to have for the day…

Electrolytes, I was same as you and today I did 7000mg of sodium. I feel high.
I basically had 3 tsp of salt during day.

I use roughly the same amount and also take magnesium glycinate…drink a lot of water also…I also take…I heard b5 helps a lot on keto because it supports the cells ability to burn fat…was thinking about trying it

Based on what? An online calculator? Keto isn’t a CICO or starvation diet and an algorithm doesn’t know who you are. If you are hungry, it’s because you aren’t eating fat to satiety. Regardless of what some calculation says. We also know that fat doesn’t make us fat.

A lot of people here don’t even track that stuff and still have significant body changes as long as they stay under 20g of net carbs a day. If I’m truly hungry outside of a meal time, I reach for fatty foods to snack with and keep me going. It’s a constant balancing act. When I first started keto and was tracking, I was eating 3000 calories a day. I didn’t try to restrict myself. Now, I am closer to naturally getting 1800 calories a day. But, sometimes it’s 2000 or 900. I leave it up to my body to determine what it wants and just make sure I get lots of fat, moderate protein, and under 20g of net carbs.

I recommend that everyone try it this way. Maybe you won’t lose a thousand pounds a week and suddenly undo years of abuse to the body, but, it will change. And, it’s not stressful.
