Fasting

(Michael Boggs) #1

I’d like to suggest a fasting category.

#2

Zornfast is a category, although it’s under food which might be kind of confusing.

Much though I love what Brenda has to say I think that a general fasting subgroup would be good idea…
Zornfast is something more specific.

(Tom Seest) #4

Sounds good to me.

I would love that. I am a big fan of fasting. I enjoy my daily IF coupled with one or two 24 hr fasts in the week.

It is crazy to me that I am writing that because once upon a time I could only go a couple hours without eating. I was a perpetual snacker.

Now, I love the freedom of not having to even think about food if I don’t wish to. Being fat adapted is truly liberating.

That is a great idea I believe that fasting is equally as important to this WOE as food or exercise. Seems like there should be a fasting category. It could have subcategories for Intermittent, extended, Zornfast, and maybe a @tdseest masterclass withe all of his results. I am fascinated by his results (the ones that I have seen that i didn’t miss on the inefficient FB feed) one comparison of his dexxa scans that he posted and showed that he actually gained lbm on an extended fast really opened my mind to the safety of fasting as i had not wrapped my head around the science that Ketogenic fasting is actually protein sparing.

I found it strange that there was no specific board for fasting. I can only assume it was a conscious decision? Hopefully there will be a change of heart and one gets included (and have Zornfast as a sub category along with daily IF and extended fasts too)

(Lauren Malhoit) #8

I was also looking for a fasting category, other than Zornfast, because I’m wondering how many of you have done fat fasts? What are your thoughts vs regular fasts?

(joievawter) #9

Today I completed my first 42 hour fast. It wasn’t bad at all. :tada:

(Tom Seest) #10

The number keeps climbing…Great work.

(Jeff Waters) #11

Yes. I get that it’s important not to let the number of groups go haywire. But, a general fasting group seems really important… and distinct from food or keto.

(anonymous65) #12

I’d love a fat fast category under fasting as well.

(brian) #13

I think a general fasting category would be helpful as well.

(Michael Boggs) #14

Congrats! I did my first 40 hour fast on Tuesday/Wednesday this week. I made one bad mistake. I broke the fast with a big (keto) meal. MAN, i was feeling like crap for about 4 hours after that. Next time I need to ease back into it. Did you have any issues?

(joievawter) #15

W It is very exciting. Thank-you! Tonight I enjoyed a feast and had some extra carbs that were very worth it to me so, I will be fasting again tomorrow. I did manage to keep my total carb at 100g and it was delicious.

(joievawter) #16

@MikeB that is AWESOME you got 40 hours in. Yeah, you gotta watch that first meal. I make mine a light snack and then wait about 45 minutes to.eat a full meal when I fast 24 hours or longer.
I didn’t have any issues, but I have been slowly working my way to longer fasting times. Cheers!

Definitely interested in a fasting category – so many keto people incorporate fasting, and the two together are powerful. I like to hear what others are doing on their fasts, with progress and challenges. I am one of those who doesn’t lose weight on keto alone – I must also do some IF, and I think there are others out there like me. Also interested in the science of autophagy.

Just adding my support for a fasting category please, so many ways to do it, so much to learn & share.

(joievawter) #19

Well, surprisingly I didn’t wake up sore and there was no weight change either.
I am still going to fast today though.

I too support a Fasting category not under the Food category, but separate.
