Fasting

I agree fasting has its own science and needs its own board. There is a great interview with Valter Longo on YouTube on fasting for longevity, cancer and multiple sclerosis. He recommends 4-7 day fasts as ketosis kicks in day 3 and autopaghy is optimal days 4-7. https://youtu.be/d6PyyatqJSE

Totally agree !!!

If we already have too many categories, then can we rename ā€˜food’ to ā€˜food and fasting’? That would allow chatter below for both topics, although I know food pics drive some people crazy when fasting .

A fasting Category would be helpful, I am currently fasting since New Years Eve I want to see how far I can safely go without eating.
I am adding a few grams of salt each day otherwise coffee and water.

Yes, please!
A seperate fasting category and a slap chef!

On day 3 of this fast ,figured I would start the year off on the right foot ,going to keep going ,longest one so far was 4 days will see if I break my record,I’m sure a lot of people woke up with hangovers on the first of the year,I sure don’t miss waking up with those terrible carb hangovers anymore

@tdseest Any word on a fasting only category? Big fan of having its own. Preferably not in the food section, since that would be irony at its best. (Or is it worst?). On day three of planned 7 day fast!

Food pics don’t drive me crazy, but I am using fasting to help break foods lifetime hold on me, so the less I’m exposed to delicious looking food during a fast, the more I can concentrate on other aspects of getting healthy! So a fasting only category would be preferable.

Sorry, I’ve been ill for almost two weeks so I have not been participating actively in the Admin discussion of such things. I hope to be fully recovered by sometime next week and will try to get a handle on it then

@Bacon how did your fast go?

(Mark) #32

Went exactly five days not a second longer, wasn’t starving but then my wife had some friends over and she cooked a bunch of food so figured it was time to hang it up,just knowing it’s possible is pretty cool, like alot of people I worked to many hours and ate to many combo meals, and said I would I deal with it someday and in June I started reading about keto and it just made since, the dudes podcast could not have started at a better time,it is real guys talking about real issues and practical advice, let’s just say they made a believer out of me and I also appreciate that their mission is to give back,so I’ve just been trying to give back the little things that have made this a little easier for me,I know that’s a long winded answer but when you find something that works you want to share it with everyone, take care and thanks for asking

Count me as a yes for a fasting specific category. Thanks for creating the category
