Fasting refeed

I’ve been keto for at least 6 months. I’ve lost ~75 lbs since the beginning of the calendar year. I inegrated fasting ~3 months ago. I’ve tried 2day fasts early in my fasting days and they were annoying at the time. Doable but annoying. I’ve settled into 2ea. ~36hr fasts a week, Mon. and Fri. My last couple of months have been atypical in terms of consistency. Anyhow, I’m rolling again and I’m about 20-30lbs from my dream weight where I’ll look real good. I’m 6’5” so I carry weight well… Anyhow, it seems that when I refeed I start at lunch and eat a keto meal. After lunch I’m still “snacky”, keto of course. I’m looking for ways to kill that. Or is this a consequence of slowly approaching my ideal weight and other hormones kicking in?

When you eat lunch are you eating to satiety? If you’re still picking at food then perhaps add a little extra fat to satisfy you longer. Here’s what I do if I feel unaccountably hungry:

  1. Am I thirsty - water
  2. Do I need salt
  3. Am I bored
  4. Where is hunger felt? Throat, stomach, belly etc

go through the list, allowing 10 mins to allow time for the things to take affect. If after 1/2 hour you are still hungry and can’t put up with it then go ahead and have something. I find that my tummy can be a bit growly after a fast but I think that is just everything settling down - it isn’t hunger.

Well done on the fasting. Good luck.

Thanks for the reminders. Salt is a good idea. I drink a ton of carbonated water. Usually a quart during/after lunch. Bored. Probably a bit. It’s a stomach thing. I think when I do 16/8 and 2 days a week I have to eat more when I eat… I’ll let the scale guide me a bit. If the trend is down and to the right I’ll continue as is.
