Fasting insulin NSV

(Donna) #1

I’ve been slowly losing weight - only net 5 pounds in 2+ months. I know why, I think, and I’m not overly worried about it.

I started keto/IF because my fasting glucose was one point below diabetic. Two months ago I got a fasting insulin and fasting glucose together. My fasting glucose was 6.3 and insulin was 262! Which gave me a HOMA-IR number of 12.2 - above 2.9 indicates significant insulin resistance.

Today my glucose was 5.9. Not a bad drop in two months. But my fasting insulin was 157 - a 105 point drop in 2 months. Which means my insulin resistance level has halved. In. Two. Months.

I’ll take that as a win.

my Dr won’t order me a fasting insulin. I have a new doctor now. Let’s see if he will

BIG win!! That’s super awsome. Oh man, I so love the beneficial effects of keto. It’s really mind blowing.

My doctor told me that it would only be relevant if weight loss efforts were not working (I was in a stall), I was tired all the time, yep, had adult acne and these two may not apply…irregular menstrual cycles and facial hair. I nodded yes enough times and was given the test…Good thing too! My score was 41.1! According to her it should be below 25.
