I’m upset with NPR for even reporting on the supposed findings of what is in essence a failed study because most of the people they studied dropped out or did not comply with the parameters of the study. How did this make the news?
Show me the science, because this ain’t it.

Failed Study on Fasting Makes News
Yes this is a kill piece on fasting in general.
Follow the money with NPR. Good reason to cut them off.
I checked her twitter feed and saw about what I expected, every feel good cause in the world. You know, its all about feeling good., right?
Of course they’re having a hard time complying when they’re eating garbage during non-fasting days. Couldn’t resist the bagel in the airport? Please. They need to recruit some ketonians for subjects, we would be compliant and provide some useful data. I’m game!
I shot the author an email highlighting my life experiences. We’ll see if he bites. I have not yet fasted. However, I’m fat adapted and I think it’d be pretty easy to do 8/16IF to start with. I am rarely very hungry. My hunger is only social or it’d be nice to eat, not an imperative. It’s a hunger response unlike anything in my life experience. I’m presently dropping about 3.5lb/wk w/o IF and have about 60lbs till I’m really skinny like I was 8 years ago (likely with some loose skin like before ).
I love the headline. Only fasting clashes with eating what we want? How about obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, insulin resistance, allergies, death? All sorts of things clash with a desire to eat what you want, because if you ate whatever you wanted all the time you’d be sick. If eating whatever you wanted was healthy (physically and psychologically) it would be okay to let kids (or grown ups for that matter) eat cake and ice cream for breakfast. It’s not!
