Extra sugar free gum carb count 😰

#1

Hey :raising_hand_woman:t3:ā€ā™€ Just a bit confused about this…
I’ve been chewing this stuff quite a bit. I just assumed it was sugar free…probably because it says It’s ā€˜sugar free’. Today I glanced at the back and noticed the carb count!

do polyols spike insulin in some people?? Or why is the carb so high when there’s no sugar?

Sugar alchohol. Some people don’t count sugar alcohols, some count them as half because they CAN affect glucose. Each type of sugar alcohol affects everyone differently so it’s not a bad to experiment and see which ones affect you. As far as an insulin response, ALL sugar alcohols and artificial sweeteners will cause an insulin response.

Think of it this way, if it can fool your tongue, it can fool your pancreas.

That’s actually great advice!!! I think I’ll apply that from now on!

thank you for explaining that :slightly_smiling_face:

Love that. I used to chew gum in the car. I quit because of just this. Carbs in ā€œsugar-freeā€

#5

Also, that’s for 100g of gum. Do you chew 100g of gum in a day? Maybe you do, my husband used to.

#6

That’s true! I don’t thankfully :pray:t2:… I think I’m just so used to being ok with the likes of ā€˜2g carb per 100g’ labels on things I eat I think. Just trying to be conscious of a carb creep

:policeman:If anything good can come out of this, its that you are reading the labels for carbs. For that, …you get an A+. way to go!:white_check_mark:
BUT… for buying it, I would have to pull you over and confiscate it. Sorry.

:rofl: Brilliant :rofl::clap:t2::ok_hand:t2:

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #9

That’s very wise of you. It can happen so easily . . . :bacon:

Thanks for highlighting this. I’ve been using extra gum for Keto breath and never checked the carbs. Stinky breath from now on!
