Exhausted newbie

#1

So, week 4 of Keto and really enjoying it so far. I’m 12lb down and overall feel so much better. The one thing I am really struggling with is energy, or lack of it. I’m eating well, exercising and drinking lots of water. I’m taking electrolyte plus tablets (2 daily) but feel absolutely exhausted. I really want to experience the boundless energy levels that others talk about. Can anyone shed any light on what I might be doing wrong? Thank you

First, it doesn’t sound like you are doing anything wrong.
Second, not everyone experiences the “boundless” energy. I certainly didn’t, or at least it kept my energy stable (between chemo, pregnancy, and chasing 3 kids).

I’d just keep going, and make sure you are getting enough sleep. Your energy may return in 2 or so weeks

Yourre probably doing nothing wrong. There is an adaptation period, while the muscles re-learn to metabolise fatty acids in place of glucose. You should gradually feel bettter as they make the switch. Full adaptation takes 6-8 weeks, for most people. Just be sure to eat to hunger, while keeping carbohydrate low, and you’ll be fine.

Yes definitely give your body time to adjust. The better you are on staying on track with it all the quicker the process.

I think I’m over worrying! It is difficult when anti Keto people try to scare you. I feel fantastic other than the tiredness but wondered if it was down to poor diet management but I don’t see how as I’m eating under 20g carbs, usually have between 3 & 7g left each day, I’m hitting my fat and protein percentages and checking ketone levels which have all been good. Hopefully, the tiredness will pass. I’m just used to feeling energetic but I suppose that was carb induced energy
