This week on the 2 Keto Dudes podcast, @richard and I talk to my wife, Kelly J Franklin, about the experience of supporting your partner (or any family member) who’s gone ketogenic. We’ve talked about it from the Ketonian perspective, but not yet from the partner’s point of view. This is a great show for couples to listen to when one is eating carbs and one is not.
Episode #50 - Family Support
This was great! I’m in the same boat as Carl. My husband is not keto, but eats whatever I cook and has gotten on board with keto meal planning, just focusing on eating meat and veggies. He tells me I’m looking smoking hot these days, so I think that helps keep the support going!
The fasting has also been an issue for us, since I stay out of the kitchen when I’m fasting so he has to scrounge up something for dinner. He loves family dinners even though it’s just the two of us. On nights I’m fasting, he usually gets carby takeout from a restaurant I wouldn’t go to so it’s a bit of a treat. I can tell he doesn’t really like not eating together though. We’re still working on this piece of my keto puzzle! That’s cool that Carl and Kelly have come
to the 3pm meal time compromise!
My husband isn’t keto either but adapts well - plus I do all the shopping and cooking. I normally batch cook, so there is usually something that he can heat and eat when I’m fasting although I’m just getting into the fasting thing. We also work together and he does not like eating alone, so I usually sit with him at lunch break regardless of what my eating regimen is.
