Ended 5 Day Fast Yesterday. Agony Today

Oh man! Thought I’d gotten away with painful side effects of reintroducing food as last night was fine, but I had bacon and eggs at 10am this morning and now I’m in agony. I don’t want to eat anything ever again right now!

I’m supposed to be feasting - what should I do?!

Thanks

oh no! I broke a 5-day fast last week and went into feasting with barely a blink, but I think I felt a bit more tentative the first few times I broke a fast, and I suspect that there’s a fair amount of individual variation plus differences each time as our bodies make the transition out of fasting. (Looks like you’ve been at this longer than I have so I’m sure you know that…)

Is this your first 5-day fast?

I would hold off on your next meal until you’re feeling fine and hungry and then go very very slowly. Chew, savor, wait… and repeat, checking in with yourself as you go. Give it at least a day of feeling ok before you go into feasting mode.

Thanks for replying! I think I’ve got a tiny bug as I’ve been throwing up all night and think it may have just been co-incidental. I’ve had to stop keto just for now as I can’t hold anything down and felt like I needed something to eat so have had a few chips and digestive biscuits, as well as a sugary drink for hydration. Feel bad about it but I think it’s more important I get well first…xx

I’ve found a few bites of avocado is good to break a fast.
