So I’ve been full keto for a about a week. I’ve been taking in 120-150g of fat a day. The last couple of days, I had a single large meal with about 60g. I may also have a snack with about 10g 5 hours before bed. I am not hungry after that. Since I’m early on, I want to make sure I have the energy I need while my body adapts. I just don’t feel like eating though. I had a fattier snack tonight, and 20g in, my stomach told me to stop. On any other diet I’ve tried, eating too little seems to have a negative impact. Am I just adapting more quickly?
Eating way less the last couple of days
This is good news. You are getting satiety signals from your body. You are still eating adequate amounts, so don’t worry about eating too little, and as your body becomes “fat adapted”, it will feed on your fat inventories in your body.
“it will feed off your inventories in your body…” Now, I understand why I would make it longer than my skinny best friend if we were on an island…just saying…
Totally! I saw this in action on a tv show a while back with celebs on an island survival thing. The buff low BF guy dropped like a stone!
This is correct for the vast majority of people that practice keto, but I’ll extend it a little for the edge cases and include a caution.
If you reach a point where you still think you’re eating what you consider to be inadequate amounts of fat and start feeling cold as an example of one issue, even without hunger, you may need to consciously increase your fats because accessing body fat is not a guaranteed state because some people suffer from things like severe insulin resistance, producing high levels of insulin in the blood, which has a significant inhibiting effect on lipolysis (burning fat).
Good luck and KCKO!
