Eating times and family

My family is very supportive of my journey to health. My family will eat what I do - but the kids are teens and work - buy their own chips, gummies, popcorn, etc. (I sometimes worry that I am doing a disservice to them by cooking Keto meals while they are still eating quite a lot of carbs but that is a topic for another day - or a quick search later).

However, my question - I have been reading to let your body guide you in terms of eating times, satiety, etc. I would be good with this but does anyone have a family that expects “meal times”?

We usually get home around 5:45 pm - first question from any one of the 3 is “when’s dinner - what are we having?” I feel like I need to sit and eat with them and now after reading and doing research on this forum, I want to be more cognizant of what my body is telling me.

Do you eat with family, sit with them while they eat?

Yes however my husband and I do not have work schedule. So dinner is around 430pm but before 6pm. Depends on how busy our day maybe. But if I’m not hungry I will just sit while he eats and discuss our day. I hear you.what to do when family time comes. Perhaps a cup of bone broth and sit with them.

I am now single but my adult daughter still lives with me. I typically make breakfast for her around 10-12 if I am hungry I will eat with her. I always make her breakfast keto, she is a carb burner but enjoys my WOE as well. She has her own carb cabinet that she keeps all her non keto food in. I have a keto cabinet, and the others are common for things we share.
When you get farther along it will become easier to just sit and talk to them when they are eating, restaurants can be a challenge but nobody stopped me from eating myself to obesity either so I typically don’t care what others think anymore. The hardest thing to do in the early stages was to cook a dinner for her that was not keto, but now I don’t have any issues. We like to premake dinners and sometimes she will ask me to make things like hamburger helper or the like.

Family get together s have been a problem with me, and I am getting to the point of not eating anything as I think they have gone out of there way to sabotage my efforts because of there basic lack of understanding of how this way of eating works. They think that I can just eat a little bit of the cake and have some potatoes, they don’t understand the physiological aspect and what happens when you drop out of keto. I offer to bring over a nice dish that is keto and everyone will like, but instead no I think we are good, but can you get some chocolate milk instead? uggh
