Easy keto restaurant lunch?

(@Insulin_Resistant) #1

I used to eat a sandwich every day. That’s off the menu.

So: How about some easy keto restaurant/fast food lunches?

examples:

-Subway: salami/spicy Italian salad with vinaigrette dressing?

-pizza buffet: peel off the toppings, scrape off the sauce, eat?

-burger joints: lettuce wrap burgers, generally?

all comments/advice are appreciated! thanks!

I just joined the order out gang at work for the first time in months.

We did 5 Guys. You can do your order online and customize exactly how you want. I had a bacon cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce with mustard, tomato, extra pickles and jalapeños.

Delicious and totally Keto.

We also just got a Jimmy Johns here! I was hooked on them up in Chicago, and they have the Un-wich which is basically a lettuce wrap. It’s awesome!

Dang it. Wish I had known that an hour ago. We stop there every Tuesday on the way to my son’s baseball game. I always pack my dinner while my DH and son get JJ’s.

Well, now I know for next week.

I love Wendy’s asiago ranch chicken sandwich (grilled chicken) bunless with an extra chicken breast. I also really enjoy fare from a kabob joint with no rice/bread.

I hear Wendy’s baconator (or is that BK’s?) is good without the bun. Haven’t tried it yet myself.

Whatever you do, stay away from mayos and Catsups at fast food places. They are full of sugar. Go with a simple mustard or brown mustard if they have it. Add oil if they have it for extra moisture if needed. Pickles are good. Tomatoes and onions should be used lightly, but a little fresh cut won’t be too bad. If you can pick spinach over iceberg lettuce, do so.

Good morning All.

Here in London I’ve always avoided chains: their sole purpose is profit and so use lots of hidden sugar and salt and cheap, highly refined fats. I prefer small independent cafes (can’t afford resteraunts) as there seems to be more care.

On Monday I went to a Turkish cafe called Capital in Hammersmith. I’d previously eaten salad with lovely pomegranate and olive oil dressing and some hummus. But Monday they gave me the chicken wings and oil/fat floating on the top and fished out the potatoes. Yummy.

But it took forever to guesstimate the macros!!

I also love Wendy’s burgers without the buns. Especially with the jalapeno mustard I got from ALDI.

Gotta Love Aldi’s!

seconding NinMD’s post:

I recently had a Wendy’s bacon cheeseburger lettuce wrap, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality. I hadn’t been to a Wendy’s in years prior to that. I have to recommend it!

At Taco Bell my go-to is the steak power bowl, hold the rice and beans, extra sour cream, maybe extra lettuce if they have a tendency toward stinginess.

You can always still buy the sandwiches (unless you’re trying to be strict gluten-free) and toss the bun. It will be ok! There are no Keto gods to anger! :exploding_head::skull::skull_and_crossbones::ghost:

The people at KetoConnect made a video that evaluated some of the better ways to eat Keto if you have to fast food. Not necessarily the best keto choices, but at least gives you some perspective if that’s what you got to do:
