Easy Bone Broth recipe?

(Danielle ) #1

Hi there,
I have just attempted to make bone broth.
It took about 10 hours, and I got the recipe from Dietdoctor.com. I feel I did it incorrectly, so here are my questions:
Firstly, the recipe said 1.1 kg bones for 2 portions??
I used half the amount as I could not fit it into my pan. Is that correct?
Secondly, I had to go and fill up water over and over during the 8 hours of simmering, is that correct?
Thirdly, what health benefits can I expect? How often do I have to drink it? Is there any faster and easier way to do it?

I hope you all have enjoyed easter, and I am looking forward replies!

This will become your best friend. Great for bone broth, yogurt, everything.
Instant pot

Just discovered this trick a couple weeks ago. Just put the oven safe (metal?) Stock pot and lid in a 215F oven overnight. Minimal water loss and minimal babysitting. Wish is known about this decades ago.

I use a big crock pot. Throw in any bones I have, add water, garlic, whatever spices sound good. And acv. Let it go 24- 36 hrs.
Bones from roasted chicken, rotisserie chicken, even hot wings, go into a bag in the freezer until I have enough to fill the crock pot. Chicken feet make a great gelatinous broth.
My latest batch was really good -chicken feet + some smoked pork neck bones.
Beef and pork bones are even better if you roast them in the oven first.

My dogs would be so pissed at me if I cooked the chicken feet instead of giving it to them LOL. They love crunchy chicken feet…duck too.
