Dude, stronglifts is the best program ever. Progress Pic

I am finally starting to see stronglift progress and I can’t be happier.

Make no mistake, I am under no illusion, I know these are noobie gains.

I finally hit 15kg/33lbs loss with Keto and extended fasting.

My bodyfat % is now down to roughly 16-17% and I miss my strength I gained during crossfit so regardless of having a few kg left to lose, I decided to hit the gym.

I’ve been following a strict schedule for the past two weeks (except for that major carb blowout I had, which was fixed with 12 hours of fasting and no additional weight gain)

Monday; feast, work out, feast
Tuesday; fast
Wednesday; feast, work out, feast
Thursday; fast
Friday; feast, work out, feast
Saturday Feast - this allows me to eat all day with my family so I’m not missing out on all the fun
Sunday Fast

I’ve been able to break a few stalls by doing this routine, i’m less focused on what I weigh now as I want to build muscle and more concerned with my body composition.

I can’t thank stronglifts enough, I have regained my strength quite quickly and thanks to crossfit I’ve got my form down pat. No need for the gym, the app is so easy to use and it’s really easy to stick to! For anyone looking to start lifting, i highly recommend!

How much difference in time are the pics? Great job!

Is this the same thing as Stronglifts 5x5? It can last a good long while… stick with it!

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #4

Yeah same thing. I love it so much

Pic 1 was from my start date 30 April
Pic 2 was roughly month 3
Pic 3 was from 20th September when I began my program

Killing it.

Looking good.
What is this ‘Strong lifts’ program you’re talking about please?

(Chris) #11

@mememe

It’s a beginner strength routine based around compound barbell movements and full body workouts.

#12

Got it, thanks.

(Edith) #13

Thanks for posting. I am going to give it a try.

(Bob M) #14

I was doing a similar routine 35 years ago.

(Nicole Sawchuk) #15

I love this! It made me jealous. I just wish I could hit a physical gym but family and work does not allow this. But I am fortunate that I am able to squeeze in resistance training at home. The only downfall is there are no super heavy weights there. But this is still so awesome!

Awesome progress pics! Love that schedule too - looks like something I could stick with.

I’m more interested in a leaner, runners body. Not looking to become big and bulky. Do you think this will be a good option?

(KetoQ) #18

Thanks for introducing Stronglifts. I’ve been doing my own weight training routine for the past few months, but would like to change things up for a month or two and may certainly make this my Nov/Dec workout program.

Casey –

It takes a lot to get “jacked” especially for older guys (like me 55), but you can definitely tone up and see some gains. I’d certainly recommend a weight training program. Plus, it’s a good way to stay active as we head into winter.

Ok, winter is not in AZ as it is for me in Chicago. But as you are a runner, a leg routine would certainly complement your efforts in that area. And something like kettlebells are a nice change of pace for both cardiovascular and strength training.

I’m 52 so definitely an older guy. I only started getting serious about my health in May. I started lifting this week. But not any kind of set program and not particularly heavy. More reps, less weight.
I live in Phoenix so winter isn’t really an issue. :sunglasses:
