Is it possible that you didn’t get an accurate measurement the first time? I generally find that to be my issue. Sometimes if I get a crazy measurement, I realize that I held the tape maybe at a slightly different angle or position and that can give hugely different readings!
How interesting. I avoided salt for many years, but I’ve been increasing my salt intake for the past few weeks. My weight basically hasn’t budged for seven weeks. Maybe I’ll try cutting back again. . . .
I would suspect this if you’re using a tape measure. How clothes fit is my guide. And remember you lose weight all over, and with 9 pounds I wouldnt fret here and read too much into it.
It’s possible that I could have been bloated at the time of measurement. Normally, I take all measurements first thing in the morning; this time was around noon.
I make Ketoade where my total salt consumption is 2tsp Lite salt, 2tbls Magnesium and one Stevia packet. I drink all that by about 7pm. I was thinking I wasn’t getting enough salt.
I find the waist measurement to be error prone. It’s easily + or - 1/2 inch if not a full inch.
Thanks everyone. As long as I’m losing weight, I guess I won’t worry too much about it. Although, my “beer” belly was a big reason for starting Keto. I’m only 5 weeks in so I’ll try to be more patient.
(I got a massive calf cramp last night - ouch!)
Definitely increase your electrolytes, particularly magnesium, though cramps can be difficult to track down. I’ve found that over time, I have had to take less magnesium and other electrolytes/minerals, other than salt.
For the most accurate waist measurement, I’ve had to look in the mirror, measuring at my widest part and also make sure the measuring tape (I bought the kind that are basically fabric) is parallel to the ground. Even with this, there is quite a bit of error. And I’m personally losing weight at such a slow rate (Jan. 1, 2019 = 5 years low carb/keto) that I’ve given up on waist measurements.
