Dr. Shawn Baker on MindPump Podcast - Interviewed by Skeptics

Still looking for post-mortem autopsy results (for ketonauts) implicating toxins found in meats, I am having a hard time tracking it down because it is under an auspicious heading, but will update this when I find it!

References:

  1. How to remove environmental pollutants from raw meat “The risks to consumer health are related to micropollutants -generated by human activity through breeding or veterinary treatments- or toxins induced by the processing itself,” the authors emphasize in the study. The potential environmental toxins include inorganic elements such as arsenic, cadmium, mercury, lead, PAHs, PFAs, dioxins, pesticides and other persistent organic pollutants (POPs), such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), industrial chemicals which are viewed as one of the twelve most harmful pollutants produced by humans, according to the United Nations Environment Programme. “Most of these substances are fat-soluble, so any food with high fat contents accumulates higher levels of micropollutants than plant matter. “PCBs and other POPs accumulate in the fatty parts of meat because they are fat soluble. Reduced consumption of meat fats will reduce the intake of PCBs. On the other hand, eating meat with a high fat content can result in a significant exposure to PCBs,” the scientist explained.” …More

  2. Other Meat Concerns: Antibiotics, Hormones and Toxins

  3. Low-Carb Diets Signficantly Increase Risk of Early Death “…Research from the Harvard School of Public Health has found that low-carbohydrate, high-animal-protein diets significantly increase the risk of early death. …” …More

I just tracked my carnivore macros yesterday. This is a pretty typical day for me and pretty much my optimum day…

Lunch- 20oz Grilled ribeye cooked weight
Supper- 16oz Grilled Ribeye + 4 eggs (cage free)+1tbs butter to fry the eggs

Macros (Per My Fitness Pal)
Fat 281g 76%
Protein 196g 24%
Carbs 1g 0%
Calories 3342
(6’1 M 312lb currently. Ironically MFP tells me this is too many calories and I should be gaining weight… quite the contrary)

Does anyone really think adding <20g of carbs turns this diet from dangerous to optimal?

Actually, I think if you buy in to those studies they seem to encourage lean meat consumption, (if any meat consumption, the bias is towards veganism, Harvard’s usual conceit) since the argument is that the toxins are fat soluble, they must then accumulate in the fat. And must then always be in toxic levels in animal fat. WHICH WILL KILL YOU.

Since our feed animals don’t have any detox pathways themselves?

I mean, if that was the case, why eat cruciferous veggies? They’re actually TOUCHING the contaminated dirt! (I kid)

The moral of the story is, get your vitamins and nutrients to promote levels 1-2 detox pathways, grassfed is not a rule but if you can afford meat from regenerative farming you’ll do your liver a favor, eggs are a great methyl donor source, and of course KCKO!

@Dread1840 thanks for another podcast I now have to catch, I was enjoying being blissfully unaware!

I think it (post mortem study) was done by the department of agriculture and was on this forum somewhere and read it thoroughly but I can’t find it!

I know, they just keep coming! And you’re welcome.

If grass fed beef is hard to come by, my opinion is you’ll still have fantastic health benefits. However, a dozen free range eggs is about 5 bucks, lasts me a week or 3. That should help fill in any implied deficiencies outside of D3, IIRC.

Absolutely, I get the 18 pack of the cage free ones from Wallyworld a couple times a month. I could live off them. Bless Edesia, there’s so many ways to cook them.

I’m going to try a “Zero Carb” carnivore WOE for a while. I watched the Dr Shawn Baker interview with Joe Rogan last night on YouTube, and have considered it for a while.

It interests me, and more so after hearing Dr Baker…so I’m shooting for a month.

We’ll see…

It’s March Meatness!

I’ve been around 98% ZC 10 weeks (i don’t like absolutes and i do like 70% choc), and have been astonished by how easily my body and taste buds have adapted. Was trying to explain to someone yesterday, and couldn’t find the right words. It just feels like my body likes it.

Keep having to remind myself that i am allowed other options if i want. I just don’t want them, at the moment…

Thanks, really enjoyed this podcast.

FYI, one of the hosts, Justin, is currently eating carnivore to get his health back and regulate hormones.
