Getting back on track today, after indulging in bad carbs yesterday.
In the afternoon I fried a pack of broccoli with a stick and a half of butter. I think i had to go to the bathroom 3 times in an hour.

Been there. My worst was the first time I tried making a batch of hollandaise sauce. I didn’t have anything to put it on so I put it in a mug and drank it. It was DELICIOUS, but I spent a good chunk of the rest of that evening in the bathroom.
It was really only an issue early on. Part building tolerance and part being fat adapted so that satiety kicks in before you get to that point, I suppose.
I can understand that. I’m doing a bit of an experiment though. I’m trying to really get the calorie numbers up to 2- 3 thousand using mostly fat, and really watching the protein, and carbs. Then ofcourse I want to hit the fasting hard… atleast 2 or 3 days a week.
Sounds like a good plan. I will occasionally have the issue after coming off of a carby day. I like to think of it as a fat cleanse.
Nothing makes me .
Do those of you who have a hard time with butter have lactose intolerance / other dairy issues? I know lactose is not present in butter, but the whey solids that get filtered out of ghee (clarified butter) are in there. ???
For me it’s not just butter, it’s just if I hit pure fat super heavy, but only early on, and after carbage. Normally I can’t hit a high enough amount to make it an issue. Like today, I couldn’t even finish my bacon. I was so sad, but the dogs were happy.
I would consider myself fat adapted… going to go along with you and blame it on the serious carnage I had yesterday.
I used to have the runs after eating ice cream, drinking chocolate milk, and some kinds of cheeses, but usually had to eat a considerable quantity of them to really have a severe reaction. That was long before keto.
At one time, I chalked that up to “mild lactose intolerance” and never gave it a whole lot of thought because it really wasn’t enough to pay much attention to.
Since going keto, I still notice things getting kinda loose if I have a lot of cream, a lot of soft cheese, or a lot of butter on something. But it seems like having gone keto has lessened the reaction, at least for me, and at this point, wouldn’t really even think about it if it weren’t mentioned. I drink quite a bit of heavy whipping cream in my coffee and that’s at least once a day most days, sometimes twice. And I don’t avoid cheese or butter at all.
I’m blessed with ancestors who probably survived on 75% dairy. I guess I might become constipated with about a pound of cheese, but ordinarily it’s a totally safe food for me. I had always heard lactose intolerance was a genetic thing, so I was wondering if maybe it’s the whey that’s the problem for some.
Yeah, I have that same problem with soft bacon. Crisp it up and problem solved!
Not w butter really
However, w the combination of Broccoli + 1.5 Sticks
Especially, for me w the broccoli
I am pretty sure I would be doing the same as you, w courtesy flushes in the stall right next to you
I’ve had a stick or so on a given meal many times though
I was ok
Humm🤔
I may be in for the 1.5 stick experiment now?
I’ll give it a try
And give it a run or “ runs “…
