Does it make sense to time Daily Exercise with blood ketosis?

#1

I’m doing fine with a happy ketogenic diet, 9lbs to goal on scale and feeling great. My blood ketones tend to rise in the afternoons to 1.2 - 2.5 or so. I’m slow-running 30 minutes daily and wonder if anyone thinks it makes good sense to wait til ketones rise to run each day ? If so, I’d just run after checking ketones, rather than first thing in the mornings, a routine which has its other benefits. Do we burn fat with exercise just when our ketones read high, or do we burn at any time as long as ketones rise at some time or another ?

Thanks !

Personally I don’t believe it would make any difference at all. When we exercise our bodies use the ketones that are in our blood to fuel the workouts so whatever the reading was, you’d use them straight away. Then if the workout means our body needs more fuel to keep going, it just makes more. That’s why keto is so good for endurance work (once fully adapted), there’s a non stop supply of fuel whereas with carb fuelled athletes, supplies are limited.

I understand that anytime before a first meal is useful

Yes lots of people report benefits from exercising fasted but it’s not something I’m able to fit in with my work and IF schedules. I’ve actually found that a pre workout shake with homemade almond milk, one scoop of whey, and a generous amount of either olive or avocado oil helps me more than anything else I’ve tried.

When you want to run go run. Don’t think so much.
