Does garlic and onions go with rosemary?

(Todd Chester) #1

Hi All,

I have fresh garlic, onions, and rosemary from the garden this week. I was thinking of pan frying up some chicken thighs with them… Does garlic, onions and rosemary go together?

Many thanks,
-T

Was that Mmmm good or Mmmm bad?

Garlic and rosemary work very well together and are particularly nice with lamb though they also work with chicken. I can’t imagine that the addition of onion would hurt in any way :slightly_smiling_face:

Depends if you like rosemary… for me its too flowery and scented to have with any meats.
Onions and garlic roasted under some chicken thighs browning in the scrummy chicken fat however would be jolly nice, if you like that kind of thing.

Mmmm Good!

Makes me hungry just thinking about it!

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #7

Parsely, sage, rosemary, and thyme. :musical_note:

Italians and the French have built cuisines around them.

I adore Rosemary!

That is the hazard of this group. You always leave hungry and wanting to cook something. I will JUST HAVE TO COPE!

Lucky Rosemary…

Oh she gets pretty mad when I steal her branches. Stinks up the yard for hours! She threatens to call out her relatives on me. I just tell her my name is Mark, so I am safe.

What ???

This is a trick question, right? What DOESN’T go with garlic and onions???

I also harvested some hot peppers: Anaheim (California) and Santa Fe Grande. I am not sure that would go too well with Rosemary. But they sure do go well with garlic and onions. And I love them in my salads.

Well, there is, no no, that goes well. There is, dang, that goes well too. Strawberry compote: mashes strawberry (note the singular), butter, stevia, simmered down. Hmmm. That may also ago well too.

I NEED MORE TIME!!! DANG!!! When is the test?

Been cleaning out the summer house we’ve had for 4 generations. Found some traditional cooking guides. Can’t use most of it but I took some photos of seasoning charts. Here’s one, hopefully legible. https://photos.app.goo.gl/2rdWDwNutLQcttwr6

I tried blowing it up. It was too low resolution and came out too blurry. Dang!

Yum! But many people really dont like rosemary.
My aunt`s recipe for roast chicken:
stuff the chicken with fresh twigs of rosemary.
salt the chicken inside and out and brush it with cayenne pepper all over.
Bake. The whole chicken is infused with that rosemary aroma.

I think I will add my anaheim peppers to the mix! Thank you!
