Does anyone use an App to help them with carb-counting and to hit the macros?

(Bansaw) #1

Is there an App you recommend that will help me count my fat/carb/protein intake ?

I want to make sure I am hitting my macros…

I think I heard of one called, “Lose it” , but wondering if there are any others that you like better ?

I’m liking Cronometer - more for micros than macros. There’s an app and a well-done site.

I installed Carbmanager. I’m using the free version and like it.

I use carbmanager as well. For the most part it is very user friendly and I find about 90% of foods/restraunts are already in stored in the app. I use it because I enjoy tracking, it helps me have a decent idea of where I am. I use primarily to track weight and carbs and fats as a secondary concern.

Same here. Almost five months in and it has worked fine.

Carb Manager.
I used it for free and then a week later got a 25% OFF for the year. I did that and see how it works for the year. I like the features and it helps guide me with carbs, tracking weight and recipe ideas.

I use MyFitnessPal, very simple and best of all, free

One thing that’s very nice about Crono is its integrations with different hardware providers. It’s nice to have data from Oura ring, Withings scale and Polar HR monitor in one spot. Crono is free with optional premium features… I’m on the free one and it’s perfectly usable. Was suggested by doc’s office to view nutrition data.

I like Nutritionix a lot. I used my fitness pal for a year but hated it. And then they had a big data breach . so , done with them. I tried Carb Manager . Meh. I found the UI a little annoying.

Does Carbmanager give you the Protein and Fat stats too ? (the free version)

(Ketoviking) #11

yes, the free version is all you need. If you want to get into the nitty gritty then you can buy the full version but for me it begins to over complicate the whole process.

I’m surprised there isn’t more Cronometer recommendations. There’s so many great features and a huge database behind it. It has a bar code scanner to enter foods for brand specific nutritional content, great weight and nutritional tracking and trends including weight and a full nutritional breakdown, a place where you can enter and save your personal recipes including portions added to your daily food diary. I’m sure that various apps have some or maybe all of these features but so many people recommended it on an earlier thread I chose it and have been very happy with it. You can also easily set up custom macros, choose % or grams, grams being the absolute way to go. :cowboy_hat_face:

Chronometer

You’ve been keto a year (unless you stopped and came back). Have you not tracked your food in the past year? Or counted carbs manually?

I also use cronometer, the free version. It gives me what I need to track macros. Also, you can use it online if you happen to be on the computer. Pretty good app. It also has a way to track biometrics like weight waist size, etc so you can see you progress.

(Karen) #15

Yes it has all the macros, and it allows you to select which one you want to show on the carb macro, either total or net. There’s cute little pictures for each of the foods. It’s easy to adjust your settings and you can add a note. The pie chart is quite clear

I personally like the My fitness pal app. It logs foods, carbs, fat ,protein. And gives you a nutrition count. So you can see where you need to bump up the supplements. It also gives you the option to scan your foods with the bar code. Pretty simple. But covers everything.
Ck it out? My husband and I both use it. And he has lost a total of 65#!! :hugs:

I’m checking out Cronometer. Its good, I am using the web based version.
The macros its giving me are slightly differnt to the ones I got from somewhere else.
Here’s my original one:

Here’s Cronos:

So net carbs is at 34g with Cronos and 20g elsewhere.
I inputted same profile both places.

Cronometer. Focusing only on macros can create distorted outcomes with micros. Use crono to collect both so you eventually have the tools, and background data, to manage both.
