Hi !
I am a French ( sorry for my English) 58 yrs old female that has been diagnosed as a prediabetic, so I decided to change my way of eating to prevent me from becoming diabetic.
After 2 weeks of keto, my glucose level before breakfast has fallen from 120 to 90. Am I doing something wrong ? Or do I need more patience to get this level between 60 and 80 as I should have to be able to get into ketosis ?
Thanks a lot for your help, there is close to nothing concerning ketogenic forums in French
…
Do I need more patience or am I doing something wrong?
Ohhhhhh thank you so much for your answer Allie ! I’ ll stick to What I am doing so far then.
Keep in mind that fasting BG level can be high [normal but higher than you’d expect] when in ketosis, and your A1C is a much better indicator of your body’s ability to deal with glucose.
I’m hypothyroid, and my endo knows how I eat and pretty much ignores my fasting number and uses the A1C (5.2).
If u r prediabetic then your liver is isulin resistant. It can takes months or longer for your liver to quit making all that “noise” blood glucose. 90 is great
Thanks Mare, since my freestyle optium only measures glucose and cetones I will have to wait for my next official blood test to get this figure. But that’s really interesting since this figure gives the average glucose level during the last three months. My next official blood test is planned in April and I will carefully look at this figure to see if I did well or not during the last three months , my first 3 months of keto !
Thanks Andrew for your encouragements… 84 this morning
, I understand better why progression is slow compared to others .
Why are you ignoring that in 2 weeks your fasting numbers have dropped 30! Your not doing ANYTHING wrong, it’s working! Keep going. 90 is within NORMAL range of 70-100!
