Discouraging - What is wrong with me! Why fasting BG so high?

#1

I simply do not understand my blood glucose readings and should I be worried. Or what can I do to lower them!?!?

Last night before bed I took my BG, It registered 96 at 10:30 pm. I ate dinner at 5:00 pm which consisted of a salad with 2 oz tuna packed in oil, oil & vinegar, blue cheese, lettuce, cucumber, 1 tomato and a boiled egg. Prior to that I ate breakfast which was high in fat.

This morning my fasting BG was 105 and my ketones were 0.8. I then at fried egg, 3 slices of bacon and coffee with HWC and levelup creamer. Again very high fat.
Then I played doubles tennis for 2 hours. I just took my BG and ketone reading on an empty stomach and my BG is 130 and ketones are 0.6.

Why so high? What is wrong with me?

I was gestational diabetic with both my pregnancies and my morning fasting glucose has always been over 100 my entire life. I have also had cancer 7 years ago and I fear it is caused or at least exacerbated with the high blood sugar or insulin growth factor.

I am not really overweight, maybe 10 pounds.

What can I do to lower my BG?

@DebRox I would guess your glucose increase is released from your liver to keep you going during your tennis match. I would not be concerned.

Because of your confounding factors, I’m not really sure what to suggest. Did you decide to go LCHF/keto specifically to control BG? How long have you been eating LCHF? Are you fat-adapted? If not, you might just need to give your body time to adapt to the new energy source.

Maybe @Brenda could chime in here, since she works with IDM (Dr. Fung’s diabetes management program). The first thing I thought is that a consultation with IDM might be a good step for you.

Exercise will temporarily raise your BG. Your fasting numbers are not bad. Do you know what they were before keto? How long ago did you start? You need more than a few readings to see a real trend.
