Day 2. Please tell me the “digestive issues” don’t last long.
Digestive issues
They don’t. Balance your electrolytes., but don’t over do. I had some loosey. goosey issues for a few weeks. I understand too much magnesium can be a problem.
K
Is it constipation or loose stools?
You might benefit from a transient probiotic if you’re having loose stools. There’s an adjustment to gut biome as the flora that feed on sugars die off. The other cause of loose stools is too much fat too soon or common problematic fats like MCT. Ease into higher fats if this is the suspected issue. The third common culprit of loose bowel movements are sugar alcohols. They aren’t tolerated well by many folks and it takes some trial and error until you figure out what you can ingest.
Constipation is either hard/large stools or poor motility. Salt and magnesium help for hard stools. Motility is improved with probiotics and movement like lunges and squats.
DI can also be related to the food you are eating as well
Like dairy, nuts or sugar alcohols for some ( like me )
Just a thought
Thanks
Both times it’s been within an hour of animal fats. Hopefully just an adjustment. Will boost the probiotics
Have you continued experiencing this? I’ve been having very loose stools since I started Keto 4 weeks ago. I dont know if it’s an inability to digest the higher fat or something else.
I’ve inadvertently been fasting as I’ve not been hungry enough to eat after the 2 meals I eat during the day. I don’t take magnesium, I’m also not taking any probiotics nor are there any sugar alcohols I’m ingesting as I make all my meals. I had a bout of c-diff from medication almost a year ago and even after being cleared my intestines were never really the same. So I’m trying to figure out if my issues (gas, loose stools, some cramping) are more to do with Keto or maybe an issue from last year.
For some some people high fibre vegetables can cause this on keto.
Digestive enzymes helped me. Don’t need to take them anymore but would if i went off keto and back on. I take probiotics.
