Look at the deal I got today at Walmart!
Did somebody say bacon?
Yeah I was really excited because in another cooler, they had it marked down to $6.50 (ish). I put about 6 in my cart, walked around the corner and saw a whole endcap at this price. Those went back and I bought 8 of these lol
Great find!
@Ketodaisy
If you have access to Sams Club @Ernest located the same brand there as well. It was the unsliced bacon slab for $5
I’m still searching😄
On the west coast (California) there’s a chain called Grocery Outlet. I get fantastic deals on bacon there all the time. EJ’s, Wright’s, and Daily’s a lot. 2 1/2 # EJ’ uncured ends and pieces for $4.50 every week.
Im so jelly! You’ve inspired me to make a Walmart run today…gotta check their bacon situation
I’m in Florida right now for the holidays and shopping at Walmart which I don’t have where I live. NOT IMPRESSED WITH WALMART BACON PRICES. About like any grocery store.
I should probably mention that these had “sell by” dates of the following day (today) which was why they were marked down so low!
Sell by dates do not equal use by dates. The way I go through bacon, no problemo! As you said, freeze. I shop at discount overstock grocery stores because I have a limited income from disability. Something like cured bacon should be good for a long while after a sell by date.
Good deal.
I live in Fort Myers, FL - I get almost all my groceries at Aldi - the Appleton Farms brand bacon is $3.49 for 16oz everyday. Yesterday I forgot my purchased bacon at work. I was sad today eating sausage instead.
bacon = #theperfectfood
I saw that at my aldis yesterday! I’m just obsessed with the Wright thick cut bacon lol. But I saw they had the wright for a little under $6. It used to be more expensive than that there!
Always good to stock up on your favorite bacon during sales. I buy 1kg packages for approx $8.00cdn.
Fwiw…I never pay full price for anything I can freeze. Eg. Meats, butter, veggies.
Freezing is no bueno.

Cured meats have a short shelf life, even in the freezer, because of the high fat content and the development of rancid flavors. Rancidity develops even in the freezer and the presence of the curing salts hastens its development.The Food Marketing Institute recommends that opened bacon not be frozen. Their recommendation is that unopened bacon only be frozen up to one month.
I also seem to recall my brother, the trained chef/food salesman saying that it doesn’t freeze completely due to the fat and the salt.
Sorry.
