Can someone tell me what’s the deal with dextrose I see it listed on things like pepperoni, ham, chicken if you buy it sliced/processed i know it’s a form of sugar so how can you avoid it? Is it necessary to totally avoid it?
Dextrose is a form of glucose. You may not be able to avoid it in processed meats. Just check the label for grams of carbs. If it’s more than 1-2 per serving you should prohibit avoid it. Jerky is especially hard to find without a lot of added sugar. Sausage and bacon is easier.
Try to avoid as much as possible anything on the food label ending in -ose
"ose" means some form of “sugar”.
