December IF/EF chat - all welcome!

(Liz ) #1

Hello fast friends! We made it through Thanksgiving in the US, let’s keep the chat rolling into December. This is such a great community and I love hearing all your stories, the struggles & triumphs. We all learn so much from each other!

I completed 2 three-day fasts in Nov and I’m currently doing 20:4 intermittent daily, though occasionally I’ll eat earlier to confuse my metabolism & keep it from getting into a rut.

My hunger increased at 35 pounds lost & my calories have gone up by about 200 but my weight is steady so hopefully that means my metabolism adjusted for the higher intake.

I’m holding on to my lowest weight, pretty much. Looking at my December schedule for a spot to slip in another 3-day fast and hopefully get to a new historic low weight.

I’m about 20 pounds from goal but I’ve no idea if my goal is the finish line as I’ve never been slender as an adult & I expect to make adjustments after I see if that goal weight actually works for me or not.

I’m a crafter, I sell what I make. I have a studio & do shows & sell in shops so this is my craziest, most stressful part of the year! I have cut way back on my schedule in recent years to reduce stress & be more available to help my elderly parents, so it’s not as insane as it’s been in the past. Still I am super duper busy right now!

Keto is so great in that I have consistent energy & mood & I don’t have to constantly interrupt my workflow to eat! Also my aches and pains are almost completely gone which means a long day in the studio doesn’t wreck me like it used to.

So that’s my December story, what about you?

Pretty much carbon copy.:
20/4 (unless hungry earlier ( or keeping my metabolism guessing)
35 lbs down
Looking to slip in an EF …maybe week before Christmas
Also have a crafting business…and it’s count down time…

Fist bump! Sounds like we have a bunch in common, hope you have a great season & can keep up with the making, I’m never so relaxed as after my last show of the season lol.

Looking at the Dec Zorn fast to see if it works with my schedule…

Hi, I’m an 18 year old, typically doing an 18-20 hour fast every day.
I usually eat lunch around 4:00 pm after school, and eat dinner around 8:00 pm after working out.
Sometimes I will skip working out and eat around 6-7, and sometimes I’ll eat breakfast or just coffee with heavy cream and stevia to keep metabolism guessing.
Probably going to do this schedule for the rest of December, might start the carnivore diet in January.
Best of luck

Into the fifth day of a fast. Days so far:

1.) Toward the end, some short-term, transient thoughts about food. I beat them down easily.
2.) Two cups of coffee in the morning, same as every day here. Felt good.
3.) Maybe some of the “euphoria” I’ve heard about. My best fasted day ever.
4.) Little less euphoria, but still an excellent day. Did some salt just for the heck of it.
5.) So here we are, sailing into the weekend…

I did 3, 50 hour fasts last month. I gave blood during the second one. I IF 20/4 or 23/1 everyday. I’ve lost 35 pounds since 10/10/17. I’m still amazed how great I feel.

I’ve got about 6 months left until I’m a registered nurse. I want to walk across that stage in June looking smoking hot!

I have a persuasive speech paper due on Monday, I am going to persuade my class to try intermittent fasting. I don’t know how to slip in keto, but I don’t think I could fast like this without keto.

So does the Zornfast start on the 17th?

Ok. Sounds like a plan !

I can’t believe it’s December, already!

My husband is home today and my 21 yr old son (who is also fasting) wants to go out to eat this afternoon to break his 24 hour fast. So, I will break my fast at 70 hours and start back on Monday.

I was able to reach a new low, 2 lbs less than the previous one, so I’m happy with that progress.

thanks for the information about the December Zorn fast. I plan to do my first one this month. I have fasted before for up to 4 days but this will be my first time doing it with a group. I’m looking forward to the support. I am also trying to figure out what intermittent fasting schedule I want to use. I’m planning to experiment with a few of them maybe for a week at a time each until I find what works best for my body. Thanks for all the support and information!

Happy December, fast friends! Took a break tracking IF timing around the holdiays, but back to 20:4 today, with BPMatcha to replace the traditional Meals 1 & 2. I think my body liked the change in schedule. My pants fit better. Still Size 4, though not as packed .

@rustyk61, you were asking how my one meal looks like: protein and vegetables, nothing fancy. Haven’t had bacon since I started this WOE.

Today is my 60th Day! I am feeling great, and not interested in weighing. I’d weigh in on my 90th. If I am still feeling fabulous, I’ll weigh in on Day :100: !

Wishing you all the best!

Hope so…

Keep going my friend. You are an inspiration. I watch your progress with bated breath. @Annapet

Hi all! Great to chat! I have been doing two 42 hour fasts per week for the last couple of weeks which has helped my blood sugars snd finally gotten me off a 5 week plateau. Since Mar I have lost 60 lbs, and wasn’t surprised to plateau. I’m thinking is sticking with this 2 x 42 for a couple more weeks. I eat keto and IF 18/6 or 20/4 or 23/ 1 everyday. I may also participate in my first Zorn fast this month!

(Doug) #15

Hi Heather. :slightly_smiling_face: That really sounds good to me. While I don’t really know exactly what happens, I picture the digestive system getting a rest, and in this day and age of excess that has a good feel. No doubt about the beneficial effect on blood sugar (and insulin levels) - I think it’s so important for many of us to make progress, there.

Looking back, isn’t that amazing? Did you think it would go so fast?

(Heather Miller) #16

Did you think it would go so fast? @OldDoug
Nope! Never really thought it was possible…just one more thing to try and hope! So glad I was willing to try.

That sounds awesome… let us know how it goes.

OK I’m planning a 70 hour fast starting after dinner tonight! I have no idea if I’m up for it or not, but no way to tell unless I try! I have maintained within 2 pounds of my most recent low weight since my last fast and as I am teetering on entering the next “decade” down (from 170s to 160s) I’m kind of eager to kickstart my month into the 160s.

Anymore, somewhere near 20 pounds within goal weight, I don’t seem to lose unless I EF. I recently listened to a 2 Keto Dudes Podcast where Richard was talking about how our fat cells become healthier and more efficient as we heal our metabolic syndrome and it gets harder to shed the fat they are efficiently holding onto lol, without reducing our basal insulin rate ever further. And the only way I know to do that is extended fasting.

ROCK ON!!!
