fasting

(Jane Srygley) #41

OMG!!! Yeah I hate the way my brain fucks with me like that :rage:

Very proud of myself for getting through 29 hours as of this morning! That was my longest fast since August so big accomplishment for me. My next one will be Sunday for 20 hours or so, then I’m planning on 2 next week for about 32 hours each.

KCFO my keto pals!

@AuntJane Jane! Great plan! And congrats on that longer fast. The feelings of accomplishment are motivating, eh?

Happy to say that fast on Monday went all the way to Wednesday lunch. It was easier than I thought but broke up my planned routine. Ate Wed/Thurs and weight still holding, just not the side of 200 that I want. A fast drops me under, eating just over. ugh. 200.4#s this morning. So back to a 42+ hr fast that I can say I started last night.

Doing my usual Fasting Friday today. Got a late start on it (had a late dinner last night) so I’ll have to go to about lunchtime Saturday to make it 36.

For some reason this week I was just not on my game and lots of needless eating snuck in. Hopefully the fast will reset that.

I’m thinking of doing a fast next week. I had thought about fasting last night, but I was hungry. Also, I didn’t want to mess up any blood work that I was planning on getting done today.

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #45

I’ll be starting a 34 hr fast this Sunday evening. It has been several weeks since doing more than IF.

(Justin Jordan) #46

Still on schedule.

Depending, I might try to push until tomorrow evening rather than tomorrow morning. We’ll see.

(back and doublin' down) #47

Here’s hoping that went ok

25 hrs in, will break at 45 hrs or so with a fresh from the butcher shop ribeye. Going to be doing holiday baking tomorrow with my granddaughter. I want to be full when the small treats start coming out of the oven.

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #48

Thanks. I’ve just noticed that sometimes things can get a bit weird on my blood work if I fast a while.

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #49

I’ve decided to do a 48-hour fast. Its not a true 48-hour fast, because I had a mini-snack this morning (really afternoon). But it had minimal impact on my BG. I also had some MCT oil . But, really, I think I’ll just keep going until supper tomorrow…which will probably be on the late side. Currently BG is sitting at 66 (via CGM). BG is 68 and BK 1.2.

Good luck with the 48hr @KetoCancerMom You’ve got this!

Going to return to the 3x42hr routine this week. Ended up breaking the Friday fast late Friday night, just felt really crappy. Fasted most of yesterday then, had a great meal with family. Keep hovering between 197-200, and just want to be where I’m not seeing that 200 thing on the scale any more. ugh. Plus, I get more accomplished when fasting

Okay started a ~34 hour fast. It has been several weeks since extended fasting. Short this week because of my resistance to the failure training schedule. I don’t fast after my 2 resistance days.

I’m hoping to do a longer one next week since my resistance training is currently on a 8-day recovery cycle. Once I get my days back to Thursday and Friday I will stick to that schedule so I can get back to M,T,W fasting.

This weekend I ate at odd hours because of driving 650 miles over 31 hours for a football game and the late nature of the game. I Stayed keto other than salted peanuts.

17 hours into a water and black coffee fast. I am now on vacation for the next 4 nights, (although they called me in for an overtime day shift today). I plan on going till Tuesday or Wednesday night. 72 or 96 hours. I have volunteered for overtime Thur, Fri, and Sat and have Sun- Wed off next week for vacation again.

I’m about 46 hours in (not counting the snack yesterday). My CGM shows my glucose around 60. Earlier in the day my ketones were around 2.1mmol. I’m not measuring until I eat in an hour or so (no need to test now and then again later).

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #54

I’m planning on breaking my fast tomorrow AM before work. It will be 34 to 36 hrs. I’ve had some looseness the last couple of times breaking.

Because of my weight training, I want to consume collagen and meat or egg protein to help build new lean mass. I have chicken bone broth ready and have some ground beef that has been cooked. What experience do people have breaking with eggs?

BTW - I’m about 22 hours in and doing perfectly fine.

(Justin Jordan) #55

Another successful fast day.

Physically not hard, but I certainly wanted to eat something. Partly that was bad planning about when I ate yesterday, I think.

(Susan) #56

47 hours in.
Feeling great!
No headache, no cold hands. No hunger.
I planned on testing my glucose and ketones today but it didn’t happen. I am heading to bed, so I won’t be doing it tonight. Good fasting everyone!

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #57

33 hrs in. Woke up early like usual when doing an EF. I have bad ringing in my ears and woke with a headache. Headache went away pretty fast just upon waking. Still ringing. I have tinnitus anyway but on keto I don’t notice it as much as when on SAD.

I dressed to be a little extra warm last night so I did not wake up freezing.

BG 86 mg/dL so I’m guessing the dawn affect is kicking in. Maybe the headache was from a lower BG level.

No hunger this morning so will drink coffee and wait for my gym time to do my resistance training then will break my fast.

Happy fasting everyone.

Good morning fellow Fasters!

At 36 hrs and should make 42 no problem. Will do two meals then start another 42 tonight. Had a short bout of being really cold last night, not sure if it was the fasting or that the temp was already dropping. 12°F this morning.

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #59

Burrrrr. Stay warm.

(Jane Srygley) #60

Yeah… I changed my mind. My first 32-hour fast was planned for today, but I decided to try a 76-hour fast instead (nearly 12 hours in). My longest so far was 44 hours, but I have a couple of days this month that I plan to eat carbs and I want to get ahead of the curve. I also want to challenge myself and get some good, healthy fasting in before the holiday festivities get into full swing. Wish me luck please! KCFO
