Hi! I’m pretty new to this, too. It’s been about 3 weeks for me. I’ve had some days where I was pretty dang hungry. Some people will tell you to just eat tons of fat if you get hungry, but I’m not convinced fat bombs are all that helpful in the very, very beginning. Your body isn’t very good at burning fat for fuel yet and I think it just has to make the switch. You still have glycogen reserves to burn through. After that (2 days), the body will gain interest in burning fat. That’s what I found, anyway. Pickles and olives have been my lifesavers.

On that little bit of food? You should be ravenous!

A few things that ā€˜Could’ apply to you (they applied to me):

Your stomach is still ā€˜large’ if you ate regular large amount of carbs it doesn’t become full (one way to fix this would be fasting which will shrink you stomach; not instantly but regular intermittent maybe some long term fasting); once shunk you will not be able to eat as much so get fuller quicker and of course with the fats remain satisified for longer.

Go and research ā€˜Ghrelin’; your stomachs hormone that says ā€œI WANT FOODā€. Ghrelin response goes up and in the early days of your '3 meals a day and snacking" style eating it comes and goes due to these long formed eating habits. Ghrelin is shown to rise slowly then peak intensely… but it is clearly shown to fall away (i.e. your hunger passes).

I feel I have Learn the difference between the ā€˜need’ for food and the ā€˜desire’ for food. Later down the line after quite a bit of fasting (especially on 24hr+ fasts) I felt I could feel the difference between a desire and a need for food. For example on a 2.5 day fast I fantasised about eating crisps/chips…but I knew that food hardly offered any nutritional or sustaining value. When I had a longing and need for vegetables or fats…I knew my body needed them to refuel. Many foods we desire (mainly due to their addictive qualities over nutritional value).

I’m only 2 months in, so no expert, they are my personal thoughts on ā€˜hunger’. Others may be different, but they are three key areas I feel are prominent with a shift in perspective since starting Keto/fasting.

you need to keep it going and after one week it will be easer to resist the hunger

Don’t go hungry on keto. If your feeling hungry, up the portion sizes of your meals.
Add more fat to them. I’m sure the cook books have fat bomb recipies. Make one and add to the end of your meals as a dessert. These are great in the beginning to help you get to fat adaptation.

The ultimate goal for your eating is to stop snacking between meals and go longer periods of time between eating. It will seem impossible at first, especially if you’re not eating enough, but you will in a short time start to not feel as hungry and cravings will ease. You can look into Intermittent fasting once that takes place.

But for now, eat more!!!

You felcome.

Seriously, beginning keto is all about rebalancing a lot of things, including your ā€œsatiety signalsā€ (when your body tells you it’s full). One thing I loved adding was a handful of macadamia nuts (a small handful). Almost always topped off a meal or provided a good snack.

Day 6- Been using all the helpful hints. Fat bombs- one per day seams to help but makes me feel so guilty eating them. I tried to use the keto calulators found on line but they all gave me different #'s any suggestions as to which calculators are most accurate ?
