Day 21 and 17 Days in Ketosis

(Doodler for @KetoKailey) #1

Hello, EVERYONE! New here and been reading up. 21 days ketogenic and 17 days in ketosis.

Predisposed to Type 2 Diabetes. 47 soon, 4’11”, and 123.7 pounds, aiming to lose 15.

Thanks to the members here, I found my way to Keto Calculator. I have been keeping my net carbs below 20g, and I have to admit the fat and protein portions need work.

At the start of 2nd week, I found myself without appetite, but I ate anyway and continue to eat regularly.

Plan to start working out again tomorrow.

Thanks again! So much info here! I hope I can pay forward soon!

Good plan for a new ketoer

As you Keto longer … you should try skipping a breakfast here and there ( aka intermittent fasting)

Thank you, @VLC.MD! I’ll look into IF.

Update:

@VLC.MD Did my homework and read up on IF. Since I’m not hungry in the AM, I’ll try IF this week and report back. 1PM-7PM will work for my family. I’m the only one on this WOE, but it’s good to have family time methinks. Son and Mr. Darcy are both supportive.

Thanks again!

Grocery Beef and Chicken broth (either cans or sachets) helped me !
Good luck.

Fasting for me involved my usual coffee with cream. x 6/day.

If you get a few hunger cravings … try learning to feel them and ignore them. I wonder how long a good hunger craving lasts ? I hear it’s 9 minutes for a nicotene craving.

Speaking of breakfast or lack thereof is, I think, one of the many reasons that keto and I get along so well. I have never been a breakfast person. Even as a child I can remember my grandmother being upset that I would not eat breakfast. I can remember my mother being upset that I would not eat breakfast before going to school. The thought of hopping out of bed and diving into breakfast literally would make me sick! I had to be awake and up for at least 4 to 5 hours before even thinking about breakfast. To this day I am still that way. Just proves, to me anyway, that my body knew all along what it needed to do and nobody listened.

Somehow with raising my own children, who are now grown men who also would not eat breakfast, I knew not to force it on them. They too still do not eat breakfast.

So I guess the point of this long ramble is… yeah, try giving up breakfast.
Congratulations and KCKO!

You eat breakfast (Break in Fast)
You just eat it at the correct time ! (Lunch or Dinner)

I apologize in advance for this one.

You’re welcome AND welcome aboard!

@Darlene_Horsley Good morning! Yesterday, I listened to my body and your advise paired with @VLC.MD’s, and the day went:

(Sunday Dinner at 7PM)

Monday
7AM Coffee with HWC + Butter
1PM Coffee with HWC + Butter

4:30PM-7:30 (3-Hour Grazing Window to get the macros in).

Of course water throughout the day.

Tuesday now and feeling great. Will narrow down the Grazing Window to 2 hours. The 4:30PM was habit, not hunger.

It feels good to me. Is this fasting?

Thank you both!

It pretty much is! It’s amazing isn’t it…?! Once you find what works for you it’s pretty much smooth sailing. KCKO and congratulations.

Thank you! You know it, but is this usual that new ketoers are in disbelief? My cousin and I are doing this together and we are dumbfounded! Why are we not hungry? I mean, we read the science behind it, but happily pitching ourselves.

Wow, oh, wow!

Thank you, thank you so much. You have no idea. I come from a family with a Type 2 Diabetes membership and this is a game changer .

Yes. At least for me it was. I was used to grazing on carbs. Not good as I too have family that belong to that T2 fraternity. Plus I had to jump the hurdle of the old “cut fats to lose weight” propaganda! I’m over that one! lol
