Day 10, Trouble staying asleep and vivid dreams

(Kristen Caporale) #1

Hello all,

I joined because I needed someone to talk to about keto who doesn’t think I’m crazy!! I didn’t know about keto until a few weeks ago when I watched the documentary “The Magic Pill”, which I highly recommend. I started keto 10 days ago and I am already beginning to notice a difference. My pants are already fitting looser and I can feel the difference in my joints and energy level. I have eaten low carb before but never to this extreme and it is much easier than I expected. I have found tons of great and easy recipes to try online. Whenever I’m not feeling that great I put some Himalayan sea salt in warm water and drink and that seems to help quite a bit. I have been experiencing vivid dreams and I wake in the early hours of the morning the past few nights. I am wondering if this will level off or if anyone has any suggestions? I already take prescription medication to help me sleep so I am not looking for a sleep aid. I have no trouble falling asleep, it is staying asleep that has been bothersome.

I’m in the same boat, waiting on responses.

I’m starting my 3rd week today. During my first week, I had vivid dreams, experienced restlessness, and woke several times throughout the night. For me, it lasted just the first week.

I had a similar experience when I quit smoking years ago. Vivid dreams and restlessness. I had attempted to quit a number of times before that too, and always had the same thing happen.

This seems common when breaking an addiction (for me at least). In this case a sugar/carb addiction. I would just hang in there. This should pass soon.

It’s my understanding that this is due to high ketones. I’m not sure how to fix it except that it should get better over time.

Glad to hear, I’m on day seven!
Thank you.

Cheese has been known to cause vivid dreams, sleeping halucinations etc. Not sure about the trouble sleeping though. Stop eating cheese at night?
