That’s ok.
I normally do intermittent fasting which is basically just skipping breakfast.
About once a month or so, I will do a longer fast. sometimes 48 hours, this time 72 hours ie I ate dinner Sunday night and I will eat dinner tonight.
There are various benefits. If you google autophagy you’ll find a whole load of information about the benefits of allowing your body a chance to be free from insulin and digestion for a period of time for a ‘clean up’. There are some processes that stop when insulin is present and that is one of them. Cells get removed if damaged, repaired, etc etc.
I mainly do it for weight loss. I don’t believe in calorie restriction as I think that your metabolism adjusts to the new lower rate and cuts back. But if you fast for a couple of days and then feast then your metabolism shouldn’t be affected negatively - actually there is some research to show that true fasting increases metabolism. Mainly it gives my body a kick up the backside!
I agree with @In2steam that you shouldn’t push fasting until you are fat adapted, as the whole point is to use your body fat as fuel during the fast and if you try to fast before being fat adapted then you won’t have access to that fuel source and you get back into the calorie restriction scenario.
You can try intermittent fasting sooner - it basically just limits the window of time that insulin is in your system, and the shorter time that is, the better!
