Current recommendations for keto cookbooks?

#1

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to treat myself to a few new cookbooks, for some keto inspiration in the kitchen. (I see there’s a few threads from 2020 and earlier so maybe some new releases and members since then?)

My ideal criteria are:

  • Visually beautiful (photos of lots of recipes);
  • Not overly focused on desserts and baking recipes;
  • A few interesting world food influences would be welcome (Asian, Mexican, Southern American, Mediterranean, etc etc - if Ottolenghi released a low-carb cookbook, that would be my idea of heaven!)
  • I like vegetables and am not opposed to things in the low-carb and/or paleo/primal category, which I can attempt to tweak myself as required. (I already have “Nom Nom Paleo” on my list which has some good stuff)

Does anyone have some favourites to recommend - or things sitting in their Amazon wishlist!?

Do feel free to suggest blogs also, though I’m specifically wanting to buy myself a book or two (lots of bloggers release cookbooks after all).

Thanks!
Camellia

Have you got the Fast 800 Keto by Michael Mosley? :blush:

Maria Emmerich’s books are great, though I’m not sure how many of your requirements they meet:

I have Eat Rich, Live Long. It’s got some decent recipes with lovely pictures in the center but honestly it’s a big book fulll of thoughts and suggestions about keto eating, with perhaps 1/3 of the text given over to the recipes.

Thanks everyone, these are all excellent suggestions- added to the shortlist!

These are my cookbooks :rofl:

All made by me. Lol

I spent money on a few of cookbooks from internet Keto personalities/bloggers/companies when I first started and they were a real disappointment. I don’t think I make one thing today from any of them. Most things never looked like their pictures either. It’s as if they took pictures of non-Keto versions just to trap the browsing traffic and make money.

I had better luck with individual recipes here and there from various sites or YouTube, but I had a lot of painful trial and error, and wasted ingredients. But in the end it all paid off.

These binders are two years worth of me saving recipes I found that worked and were pretty good. Most have notes and adjustments on them that I made in order to make them better than they were. If I have a recipe in a sheet protector it means it’s finalized and absolutely golden and literally the best version of that dish/item. If not in a sheet protector I still have tweaking to do or I haven’t decided yet if I’ll make It again. Every so often I go through and throw out anything I don’t recognize, or after my improved skills I can tell it will taste bleh. Lol

Wish I could copy all this for you. :confused: I’m just not impressed with very many cookbooks yet.

I really no longer buy cookbooks. I have some old ones from 15 years ago but they are not keto. I have my favorite recipes bookmarked.

I particularly like Wicked Stuffed although I will substitute erythritol or allulose for the commercial fake sugars she has in some of her older recipes

I eat this many days for lunch. I also really like her scrambled pancake recipe. I put some boiled fruit on top and it is delicious but then I am a reformed carb addict.

I also really love DietDoctor.com. I make the keto bread and fat head pizza regularly. It looks like you need a subscription but most recipes do not require it

I also like Carrie Brown’s website, I love her twice baked cauliflower mash. Various other websites as well. I also will modify recipes that are not keto but have keto elements like marinated chicken or thaior other international recipes

That breakfast sandwich looks to die for! Can’t wait to try it. I printed it off. Lol. I’ve bookmarked before and then months or years later can’t find it because the link no longer works. If I really love something I print it off or save as a PDF to my recipes file folder on my devices.

Thanks so much for the link to her website! Love having a new one to peruse.

It is very tasty. The gouda gives it a nice flavor. I have made it with turkey bacon and guacamole or avocado or skipped it if I am out. I use different types of lettuce and spinach depending on what I have available. I do screenshots sometimes. I know what you mean. Sometimes I forget to bookmark. I think there is still a crusted chicken I am looking for since 2019 https://www.wholesomeyum.com/
