So today is day 9. Still brand new
I started at 177 and by day seven was a 170… the last 2 days have slowed down but am now at 168! No cheating and i think I’m over Keto flu hell, I feel
Great! My macros are on point but my calories are consistently 1500-2000 daily… I’m 5’5 30 years old and only semi active (walk 1-3 miles a day plus house chores)… would it be best to start dialing back the calories or continue to ride the wave til weight loss stalls? Just curious
Curious with calories 😀
Don’t worry about calories. Eat your recommended protein and fat to satiety. As you adjust satiety will mean eating less and less fat because you are getting more and more energy from body fat. Don’t force it but don’t ignore it either.
I use MFP to track my food because I’ve only been doing this for 2 weeks, but I never worry about calories. I monitor my carb, protein and fat levels. I’ve been consistently losing. I say, ignore the calories and if you are wanting to monitor something, stick with fats, carbs and protein. Listen to your body, don’t eat when you aren’t hungry.
Your doing great Red, I would kepp it rolling like you are, focus on keeping carbs as low as possible and protien to your needs. if you feel hungry add in fat, if you don’t don’t Keep it going till you stall then maybe try some IF in a few weeks when you are fully fat adapted.
An excellent book to read is “The Calorie Myth” by Jonathon Baylor.
While Calories are a thing; it is easier to chase the wind, or break it in my case.
The reason we say forget calories is because the hunger signal is better triggered while on keto. Fat brings you to feeling full this you’ll stop eating/forcing food.
What’s interesting though is that lets say you ate 1000 calories before keto and I’m using this number for easy math. The common practice is for people to eat 30% deficit so 700 calories. A study has shown that keto mimicked this deficit while still being at 1000 calories. So you can actually eat more or the same and lose weight.
Also when we eat food the body creates energy and you’d be surprised how much energy your body uses when running more efficiently without a big signal to store.
If you look up the 4000 calorie LCHF experiment Jason Wittrock has been conducting you will see that calorie intake means very little! Remember that weight loss is a hormonal thing, not calorie balancing.
