Crust Pizza - Australia

(Nicola Hensler) #1

Crust Pizza dropped their latest menu in my letterbox the other day and I noticed they now have a Low Carb Pizza range with a base made with cauliflower and linseed. Anyone have any idea of the nutritional values of this product. Would be keen to try.

Hhmm maybe I won’t bother asking… just checked their website for the base info:

Wholemeal Wheat Flour (Thiamine, Folic Acid), Cauliflower, Water, Linseed, Yeast, Iodised Salt, Vegetable Oils (Olive,
Canola), Parmesan Cheese (Milk, Tapioca Starch, Salt, Cultures, Vegetarin Rennet, Lipase), Breadcrumbs (Wheat Flour,
Sugar, Salt, Yeast, Canola Oil), Preservative (282).

With whole meal flour being the largest ingredient. Low carb? Really?

I am very upset with the placement of Vegetable oils along side Parmesan Cheese, this is an abomination.

Lower carb does not = low carb.

And vegetable oils.:grimacing:

Makes you wonder why they bothered…

They put “low carb” on things just for sales. They can get away with this based on the fact that their product used to have x number of carbs and they lowered it by x number. So low carb doesn’t mean low carb for you or I. Just for them!

A lot of places are jumping on the low carb bandwagon.
But like @Alecmcq said, whole meal flour is the largest ingredient, so it’s lower carb for them, but not us!
Be very careful of this, they have caught on to the low carb movement very quickly but have failed to actually provide anything of quality to us lol
