Does anyone use the Cronometer app or online version? I have a question if you do. So I just started Keto on Monday and, before I get too far into this, what do you suggest I leave the Macronutrient Targets at? As of now I’ve just left it on the High Fat/Ketogenic preset already on the app. But I noticed doing so leaves the carb count at 40g. I’d like to stay around 20 since I know they do me in. So, I was wondering, should I just leave it on that preset anyway and just watch for extra carbs, or should I do a custom set and set it at 25 protein 20 carbs and 70 fat? And, do you suggest I select to be shown NET Carbs or Total Carbs? Thanks!!

Here’s a quick answer to some of your questions (Kinda limited on time). I think you may be setting your targets differently than I do. I set my upper and lower limit of carbs to 20 grams. For me that’s the most important macro goal and that makes it is easy to see where I’m at. I set mine to show net carbs (counting net carbs works for most people, some individuals might need to adjust and count total carbs later on, if they’re more metabolically sensitive to carbs). You can also set it to subtract sugar alcohols when calculating net carbs, which I’ve found helpful.
You can do the same with your protein goal, setting the upper and lower limit to a specific target in grams, calibrated to 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per kg of lean body mass.
With regards to fat intake, that’s more complicated. I don’t recommend restricting your calories or fat intake while you’re adjusting to burning fat for fuel instead of glucose. If you finish eating and you find yourself hungry again before your next meal, you didn’t eat enough fat. I got hungry a lot the first couple of weeks and I ate a lot. I just kept my carbs low. But my appetite quickly adjusted after that and I started needing to eat significantly less.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
Here’s how I have mine set up, but I am not typical keto, I do pretty strict zero carb. I find the Custom strictness under the High Fat / Keto macro option allows me to configure it to exactly match my goals
