Crisis phase during low-carb slimming process

Cream can refer to a bunch of different things. It’s also regional. Probably most commonly seen, at least in the US, is coffee cream or “half-and-half” which I believe is named because it’s half milk and half (heavy) cream. They have it at every coffee shop.

Heavy cream and whipping cream are much higher in fat. If you whisk it, you’ll get whipped cream. If you keep going you’ll get butter. If you make yogurt out of it, you’ll get creme fraiche.

Different countries name things differently because dairies are so local and regional and agricultural laws and customs vary. For example, you can get the same products in Canada but they are also tagged with the fat percentage (i.e. milk 3%, half-and-half 18%, whipping cream 35%).

And some of us can eat both with no problems. Or at least none I know of.

Why do you need in-between snacks? We eat way too often, if you go true keto you’ll eat twice a day or maybe just once. But if you really need them, use nuts (not peanuts or cashews).

I already gave a hint what to do at restaurants. Otherwise a carnivore lifestyle is fairly simple: Buy beef, fry (if you like) and eat.

Your weight is going to fluctuate somewhat, just from retaining or releasing water. A half-kilo is nothing to obsess about. My weight has now been stable within a roughly 5-kg range for a couple of years, and I don’t worry anymore about how much I’m eating, I just try to eat as little carbohydrate as I can manage.

The real issues are body composition and fat mass. Your body is perfectly capable of adding muscle tissue and increasing your bone density, even while losing fat mass, so the scale is not your primary guide to progress. Keep track of the fit of your clothing. Since fat is a lot less dense than bone and muscle, you can lose inches without losing weight (i.e., by putting on an amount of muscle that weighs the same as the fat you are losing).

Although my weight has been stable for a couple of years, I can now fit into trousers that wouldn’t even go over my butt two years ago, much less fasten at the waist.

So think about it this way: would you rather stay the same weight and look as though you’ve lost 15 kg, or lose 15 kg and still look the same?
