Craving Cheeze Whiz and Kraft Singles help?

(Heather Meyer) #1

This is funny…but here it goes…

I was raised on Kraft Single Cheddar style slices(aka fake cheese) for grilled cheese sandwiches… I was also raised on cheeze whiz sandwiches. As an adult, i NEVER craved it or wanted it.

Anywho… today i was like “sure why not?” I bought some kraft slices and had two on my keto bread and then when finishes wanted more…all day long ive been craving more of this cheese and now cheese whiz. But for the life of me cant figure out why its triggering me to want more…Any thoughts? Is it the salt in it maybe?

Is there hidden ingridents ive overlooked?

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #3

Yes. It’s completely processed and not at all healthy.

whey, milk, canola oil, maltodextrin, milk protein concentrate, sodium phosphate, contains less than 2% of modified food starch, salt, lactic acid, whey protein concentrate, mustard flour, Worcestershire sauce (vinegar, molasses, corn syrup, water, salt, caramel color, garlic powder, sugar, spices (contains celery), tamarind, natural flavor), sodium alginate, sorbic acid as a preservative, color added, cheese culture, enzymes, natural flavor.

all the bad things we avoid. the maltodextrin would cause more sugar cravings, hence wanting more cheese.

If the answer wasn’t ENTIRELY obvious enough before, I guess it is now…

(Heather Meyer) #5

ahhhhhhh!!! never would have guessed maltodextrin in cheese slices!

May as well eat cardboard, it would probably be better for you lol

(Heather Meyer) #8

mmm fibre!
I always questioned Mcdonalds hamburger patties… they look close to cardboard too!

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #9

According to McDonalds, they’re 100% pure beef, probably why they are frozen.

Thing is, it’s not actually cheese - it’s pretending to be cheese but in reality is closer to the nutritional content of plastic.

Resist the craving as you would any other carb craving and it’ll pass in time.

100% from cows likely, but there’s lots of bits of the cows that people wouldn’t really want to eat and those patties could contain any number of undesirables.

I was in Costco and standing front of the “nice” and admittedly more expensive cheese aisle. A woman came up to me and explained it was her first time in Costco - where was the actual cheese. She meant Kraft slices. (Facepalm)

It’s crap. Melt real cheese!

(Sheri Knauer) #15

Best to avoid crap foods (foods that have a long list of ingredients) altogether because when you eat crap foods, then you crave more crap foods. Food companies are masters at promoting their foods (or food like things) as healthy and good for you and hiding undesirable ingredients in their products (natural flavorings is one way to hide stuff).

Cow walks in - burger patties roll out…

(Julie ) #17

Such a pity, as there are so many good cheese out there. Many from other country’s.

(Marta Loftfield) #18

@PortHardy you might try substituting Gouda. To me it has always seemed close in texture to “American cheese”

(KCKO, KCFO 🥥) #19

Well I would have been no help to her. I have no idea if Costco even carries any of those carbage things.

(Janelle) #20

They do - in with the massive cases of sugared yogurt and other carbage.

I like Monterrey Jack for this purpose. Nice and melty.
