Counting Salads

(Brenna) #1

Do you guys count lettuce or salads (not salad dressing) towards your allotted carb count?

I would deeply appreciate it.

Yes

I have a tantrum every time but yes, I do.

Lolz Thanx for that.

I do, not all lettuces or leafy greens have the same amounts, but I think most like arugula, spinach, and iceberg have about 1 carb per cup…so really low. Adding other stuff can be more significant though like tomatoes, avocado, etc.

I do and I use a scale, cups aren’t an accurate way to estimate fluffy greens. Easy to think it’s way more usually.

Basically yes, I take into consideration everything I wat that has carbs like lettuce or brocolli for examples. I am still in weight loss mode so as long as I eat keto and continue to lose weight I dont worry about small carb amounts like lettuce. I never got fat eating lettuce before! It was all the other stuff that made me gain like dressing, croutons, etc.

ok. thank you. I’m not sure if I should count them or not. but thanx for the input.

I eat a very large salad of non starchy veggies, olive oil, vinegar, and seasonings most every day. Every few months I weigh out all the ingrediants of a sample salad and list them in ounces. I put that into cronometer as a recipe. May be the ingrediants vary from one salad to the nex but on average it’s going to be close enough. Besides carbs crono also gives an estimate of micros. Crono has a feature where I can remove suppliments and see how close I’m coming to rda’s, or some other value I’ve set, without them.
