Counter Carbs and Protein by Eating Fat

#1

Not new to this and never really counted fat grams, barely counted protein or carbs but I am curious.

I have seen numerous posts that will say, I ate too much steak and so added some butter to balance it out or similar. They are not saying that they are still hungry, instead implying this is only to achieve some macro. In most cases it is people with at least 50 lbs or more to lose so have plenty of body fat to use, as I do!

When you are fat adapted is this even necessary?

Even if you are not fat adapted, is this even necessary? I see the point of eating fat to achieve satiety but assuming you are, is this adding unnecessary nutrients to achieve a macro balance (I hesitate to use the C word as CICO is not something I believe in at this point)?

I am a newbie here so if I have it wrong please be kind :).
I don’t think this is a necessary thing for someone that is fat adapted and adding the fat would only be to achieve satiety but for those of us who are not yet adapted, it helps our metabolic state to remain at a higher level so when we do become fat adapted our body will not require such a low caloric intake to burn our stored fat cells. This is what I have deduced anyways.
This does not explain however how long you are supposed to continue over-eating to maintain a higher metabolism and when you can start just eating to satiety?

Being fat adapted is a necessary but NOT sufficient condition for sustainable ‘under-eating’ in as much as HOW MUCH fat you have to use seems to matter. If @Richard is right (and I’m sure he is) that you can only extract so much energy from each pound of fat, then how much fat you have to extract from (and maybe it isn’t even ALL the fat you have - who knows?) will determine whether you are actually calorie restricting or maintaining your BMR and if you need some dietary fat in addition.

Lean people should be eating their fat and many would not need to worry about excess since metabolically healthy folks seem to excrete excess fat rather than actually metabolize it, though everyone is different.

To the original question, hitting a macro beyond satiety sounds dumb since your body is usually smarter than some muppet with a macro calculator (even if that muppet is yourself). :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
