Coronary disease post bypass surgery

I really want to see a study done on Non-insulin dependent T2 diabetics and how they do on Keto or even Low carb post Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) vs. the low fat/low cholesterol diet that is traditionally recommended for someone post CABG.

I work with this patient population and I feel like we are doing them such a disservice by recommending the low fat/low cholesterol diet. I always tell them their number one priority should be controlling their diabetes through diet in order for their bypasses to last.

I have been trying to do my part by offering counseling one on one to my patients and their families pre and post surgery. Explaining that they need to figure out what foods increase their blood sugars, and then figuring out how to eat based on what spikes them or not. It would be really nice to have some data to back up my advice though.
