Corn dextrin good or bad? People asking me about things like sugar free koolaid and crystal light
Corn dextrin?
My rule for ingredients while shopping is if I don’t know what it is I don’t buy it.
Dextrin is a sugar so avoid it. Corn is also to be avoided.
Any info on it I can give this lady? She’s refusing to listen cause she’s lost 90lbs while drinking it
It may depend on what her goals are and how far along her journey to her goals she is. If her goal is weight loss and she lost 90, that is great, whatever she is doing is an improvement from where her dietary choices started. Whether she continues to progress may be dependent on whether her choices are optimal enough to bring her to her final goal.
I’m not familiar with Corn Dextrin, but just based on the name I would put it in the sub-optimal category for me, based what I know about my metabolism and my goals.
For her metabolism and her goals, it may or may not be a barrier to progress.
For me, after many years of failure trying to substitute fake sweet for sweet, I’ve decided that I’m best off if I just eliminate “sweet” altogether and say good bye to the cravings that it brought about in me.
I wonder that as well. Could be she’s just changed her habits so much that she’s losing. I know dextrin spikes sugar.
My thoughts as well. I was able to find that dextrin is very high on the glycemic index, so probably not a good choice. But she won’t listen, so that’s her decision
You can give advice but it’s up to the person receiving it to either act on it or not.
