According to the study, there was a 143% increase in the rate of decline among persons on high-fat diets in the highest quintile of total copper intake compared with those in the lowest quintile.

But, Dr. Morris said, there was no association between cognitive decline and copper intake among those with a low consumption of saturated and trans fats.

I don’t have access, but most of the time you hear “high fat diet” in connection with a study, it’s also a rather high carb diet as well, and generally pretty poor quality carbs to boot. Naturally, they blame the fat, though.

Very true.

I’ve heard people defend the position that you can eat carbs and be healthy. I think most here would defend the position that you can eat fats and be healthy. But regardless of which side of the fence one wants to be on, it doesn’t appear that eating both the fats and the carbs have a favorable outcome.
