Cold water, Is it bad?

(Keto Koala 🐨) #1

Hi guys. Ok confession time, I’ve been a very naughty girl. I WAS drinking 2 litres of water everyday for the first two and a bit months. Even though I hated it. I stopped and when I say stopped I mean, I stopped completely. I only had water in my coffees. And that’s two coffees a day, sometimes only one and I hardly ever finish them. It’s silly as I’ve been very sick. I now have a UTI from not drinking enough water. So as of today I’m back to my 2 litres a day. I don’t know why I hate drinking water. I find it a tedious chore. Anyway to the point now. Is cold water bad for you?? I’ve heard some stuff and I wonder. Because I prefer it cold. If so, WHY is it bad for you?? I have very high fevers lately so surely it would help me?? I’m very confused. Does anyone here drink cold water, or is it better to drink it luke warm. Either way it’s not gonna be fun for me, but I need to flush away this UTI. So yeah. End of rant. Hope your all keeping safe and Happy good Friday to the Aussies and whoever else is having a Friday today.:smiling_face_with_three_hearts::heart::heart:

Do you have corona?

(Keto Koala 🐨) #3

@Chantarella Yup :disappointed_relieved:

#4

Well I hope you’re going to be OK. Cold water is fine. You might want to not drink it with ice during the infection. And how about a cup of tea? Warmth brings more blood to the area, and that means more cells to fight the virus- to put it simply

(Keto Koala 🐨) #5

@Chantarella Thanks for that.:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:. I just drank 1.5 litres and I’m glad I finally did. I’ll do the other half a litre later. At least I’m hydrated now. But for some reason I get headaches after drinking water. It’s just happened again. It was happening a few months ago too. I don’t know why. Even when it’s warm water, I get headaches. Hmmmmmm . I could have a cup of herbal tea. I’m trying to go back to Carnivore but can make a few exceptions.:heart:

Oh boy it’s getting worse. I feel this migraine or something now. And it was bottled water. Could it be cos it’s from a plastic bottle?? I’ve heard plastic can be bad. I’m very confused . This is one of the reasons why I stopped drinking. Now my vision is going funny. What the HELL!!!:thinking::thinking:

You might be flushing electrolytes. Try taking some salt…

(Keto Koala 🐨) #8

@HBuk Ok, I’ll try that. The letters are dancing in the screen. I can only half see. I’ll get some pInk Himalayan salt into me. What you said makes sense, cos once I did this stupid 500 calorie a day diet where your not allowed salt at all. And after two weeks on it. My vision went weird. I use lots of salt on my OMAD but I must need more.

Chinese people swear that cold water upsets your stomach, but I’ve never had that happen. But I happen to like room temp or hot water anyway. Whether the temperature of the water matters or not, I can’t imagine the difference would be that great. If cold water gets you enough hydration to prevent UTI, I say drink the cold water.

And as shocked as my chinese friends would be about you drinking cold water, I think even they would agree it is better than not enough.

strong headaches are part of the corona infection

Now you have me wondering… I had a massive headache a few days ago for no apparent reason. Woke me up in the middle of the night, very unusual for me. I took a couple of Aleve and went back to bed. Slept another 5 hours or so and have felt normal ever since. Never did figure out why the headache.

It’s allergy season here, pollen everywhere. And I can’t help but wonder, every time I get to feeling like I’m “catching something”, which isn’t all that uncommon this time of year. But every time, at least so far, it’s been very short-lived and gone within a day or so. Maybe I’ve watched the news a few too many times.

FWIW, I love coffee, so a hot cup o’ Joe is welcome anytime for me!

Many many people are wondering if they have corona or not, if they have had it, if they are positive, if it was only a regular flu? Some have headaches and other sdont. Some have diarrhoea and others dont. Some dont have any cough which is supposedly the most important symptom. And then we have those without any symptoms at all who show antibodies so that means they have had it and didn’t even notice.
But besides corona almost anything else could be causing your headaches- from stress, to severe dehydration, to sinusitis, to migraines, to an aneurysm, to a tumor. Nobody can differentiate that for you online.

You have my UNDIVIDED attention

Water sucks, at the gym I can chug it for hours but otherwise I hate it. My new thing to drink something OTHER than coffee is sticking Meyer lemons in it, they’re a hybrid of a lemon and a mandarin orange (ya, hybrid, It’s gonna kill me I know) and tastes GOOD! Best I can do, now I’m drinking about a gallon a day of that… plus the coffee.

(Scott) #14

I don’t get drinking two liters a day. Then going to zero and having problems only to go back to two liters a day. Why not just have smaller amount ever so often or drink when thirsty. If your not drinking enough I get forcing a little water but setting an amount like two liters is possibly over doing it.

(Joey) #15

This is extremely important … most especially if you are drinking lots more water than you’re used to, keeping your electrolyte levels up is urgent. And it is all the more urgent if you are struggling with a flu/virus. PLEASE add salt (ideally magnesium, perhaps potassium according to some) to your diet. If not through the water itself (i.e., salted water) then heavily salt your food.

Headaches and dizziness are also classic signs of insufficient electrolytes.

Keep us posted on your progress! Best wishes :vulcan_salute:

@SomeGuy
She has had “very high fevers” lately. Sound like corona to me. In our times corona is the major cause for very high fevers. Drinking a lot is good if feverish.
But otherwise I dont get the focus on water drinking. I dont even notice what i drink each day. It just comes naturally. I like my water with a bit of apple cider vinegar because it tastes a bit sour. If I feel thirsty, I drink.

(Joey) #17

Staying hydrated is critical when ill - we lose a lot of fluid when battling infections as mucous production increases.

And the more water one drinks, the more important it is to maintain electrolytes.

(Keto Koala 🐨) #18

@Ruina yeah the cold water was ok. It did help me somewhat at least I was hydrated and could pee more, I was only peeing about 3 times a day so it helped with that.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #19

The fever could also be from the urinary tract infection, don’t forget.

Personally, I don’t like the taste of plain water, so I drink Seltzer or club soda. The carbonation adds enough interest to make it palatable. Coffee and tea also add flavour to water, so I enjoy those, as well. The slight diuretic effect of the caffeine might actually be helpful in the case of a urinary infection.

I can’t see how the temperature of the water is relevant, but even if it were, as someone noted, the ill effects of cold water still have to be better than the ill effects of dehydration.

@Chantarella Yes headaches are a symptom of Corona, but yes, headaches can be for a huge number if reasons of your not sure whether you have the virus or not. It’s best to get tested for sure, like I did so you know for sure. My flatmate caught the virus off me and is 18 years older than I am AND has smoked for 31 years.. Yet strangely enough she has no damn symptoms. She is fine. Not even a sore throat. She coughs anyway from smoking so that does not count. I find it very bizzare. But even though I’m young, I’ve had tonnes of health problems. Many many surgeries from a perforated peptic ulcer, collapsed lungs, blood poisoning, bowel surgery, ect ect ect. So my immune system must have been lower than hers. It’s a mystery. I have apple cider vinegar. Maybe I could try that. I still have trouble drinking water. But I’ll do it. It did help the fever for awhile but it came back in the night. It’s down again now, well less down anyway.:heart:
